25-Jan-2012
Pro's: twin cots where really nice when my boys (twins) were new, very easy to push and turn, good off-road handling, looks good and pretty strong. Basket underneath is quite large for shopping, adj handle and brakes are very good.
Con's: very heavy, still very large when folded up - in fact it will not fit inside our BMW 3 series Touring boot, so you need a SUV or something similar, limited range to sit my boys up, at best 45 degrees, terrible front wheel clearance between tyres and wheel 'forx', which means mud clogs the wheels up pretty easy - it must have been built for California in mind :-)Read moreLess4 people found this review helpful.

we have the single version which we love and are considering the double for our next baby and our 20 month old. do you know how wide it really is and also does the single carry cot fit alongside the normal forward facing seat?

Brilliant buggy. Wonderfully easy in use, both on road and off. Possible to run pushing it, easily. A favourite party trick would be to twirl it round with the twins on it, using one finger. Always impressed! Designed to be about a half inch narrower than standard door sizes, so moving around buildings was easy. The big rubber wheels made going up and down stairs (Tube stations) feasible, but use on escalators was frowned on by LRT staff, even if there was no alternative (except not travelling). It carried our twins for several years, with their elder sister perched on the footplate. It doesn't fold up much, so if transporting by car - or up escalators - bear this in mind (we have an MPV). Also, lifting it in and out of the car could be wearing.

"I absolutely love this buggy and can't recommend it enough.…"
06-Jan-2011
I absolutely love this buggy and can't recommend it enough. I originally bought the iCandy Pear for my twins as I was concerned a side-by-side wouldn't fit through any doors. But now I have the Mountain Buggy I wish I'd had it since they were newborns. It's amazingly narrow for a twin buggy, really robust, brilliant over all terrain. Best of all the suspension means it's a dream to push and so comfortable for the passengers! The raincover is really good, as are the hoods and sunshade. There's so much attention to detail. OK, it's expensive, but I think it's worth every penny compared to other buggies. If you're a parent of twins you need life to be as easy as possible. If you're an out-and-about sort of family, into walking, dog walking etc, this would be a brilliant choice.

Comments from other Mumsnetters:
The swivel wheels mean "kerbs and crowds are no longer a problem"; "you can push it easily with one hand and it handles rough ground really well". "The brakes are excellent" and it's "cosy and comfortable for newborns and toddlers". It's also "narrow, so fits through most doors" and has a "huge shopping basket". So it's one of the larger and heavier models around and it's also expensive, but as one reviewer said: "it's solid and should last forever", so if you've got the cash this could be your answer.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

I love it! We bought it for our twins, along with the twin carrycot - I will admit I chose it purely because of how adorable they would look snuggled up in their together and so I could see them as I pushed along (vs. the reclining pushchair options). After 6 months or so we took the carrycot off and I have been really happy with it as a pushchair too.
The best features are the steering (it turns on itself so you can turn 180 degrees in a very small space - very useful in supermarkets! - and the adjustable height of the handle, as my husband and I are quite tall (phil & teds and nipper were a bit of a stoop for us).Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

I too love my mountain buggy double!
I have 2 boys with a 20 month age gap. We had a few constraints when buying a double buggy: We are all very tall (I am 6.1 and DS1 99.6 percentile for height), and DS1 not surprisingly also heavy (15 kg at 20 months). This ruled out most buggys including phil and teds which is terrible if you are tall.
Mountain buggy a bit sometimes but always fits through doors I need to use, handles great on all terrain, push with one hand, boys very comfortable and safe. Fits in our car and although I havnt tried should go on bus no prob.
Buy on ebay for a good price!Read moreLess3 people found this review helpful.

07-Nov-2009
The MB is brilliant in every way apart from folding down and storage. I've used quite a few doubles and this is without doubt the easiest to push and lift up kerbs. I don't think I have ever had a problem getting it through a door. And my two daughters seem so well protected and cosy. I love it. BUT you really do need to have a large car boot (unless you do as I did and get a second hand umbrella fold up for the car) and also somewhere to store the pushchair when not in use.

25-Oct-2009
I spent hours and hours researching buggies before my twins (6mo)were born and came back time and time again to the MB. (have no time to do anything now!)Its great. Never bothered with the carrycot as both seats lie flat (do pad out a little with blanket for comfort. Turns easily and gets through surprisingly tight gaps. Big basket, great on country tracks and the beach. Yes, heavy to lift but its a double buggy - what do you expect! Good now wnen out and about wanting to feed solids as kids side by side - not possible with tandems. Buy spare tyres though and practice mending punctures as they DO happen. Seats come pretty much upright - an advantage over the Out n about Nipper - I have a 3 yr old too and I know how much he enjoyed sitting bolt upright from 8 months. I bought new as they sell well on ebay. Previously tried to buy one and it went for

Love it! We originally bought a Phil and Teds when our second was born. Sold it four months later and bought this. Yes it's heavy to lift into the boot but once you've got used to it - it's fine. The independent reline is brill as we often end up with both boys asleep, it's so comfy. Well made, great design but pricy new. You won't regret it.

Love it! I have had three double buggies (bad aren't I?!) and this is my perfect buggy. I have two very long, very tall boys, and this buggy houses them very comfortably. Loads of space in the basket, a pleasure to push. Haven't come across a door I can't get through yet. A little heavy lifting out of boot, but we walk twice a day so need something sturdy. Highly recommended.

Fab,Fab,Fab can't praise it enough. For those of you with special needs kiddies that need a buggy as well as younger siblings this is brilliant. My big 4 year old sits comfortably in one seat and my baby is comfy in the other. Very durable and so easy to push. I even have a buggyboard on the back for my 3 year old and despite daily school runs and shopping trips it's still going strong ( Unlike some other buggies)

i got this buggy four months ago and wow! i have six kids and have had atleast 16 buggies and this is the best by far! i have it with one carrycot for my baby and he has been so warm and cosy and the other seat my toddler sits in very comfy lays flat, hes not squished up as you find with most doubles (hes 20m) even my 3 and a half year old sits comfortably, i also have a buggy board attatched! its easy to push even in town and glides across the field to school! it is fairly heavy to lift in and out of the car but i am used to it now so it doesnt feel that bad, it fits through my front door, expensive but worth it especially if you plan to pass it on or have more children, can get reasonably priced secondhand still good condition.

So durable and the carrycot / pram attachment is just great - we use it as our 'moses basket'. Nice to have an indoor use for it as it takes up SO much room! But no more than the others, in fact it's narrower than the others we looked at. Do look on ebay as we bought ours for less than 1/2 retail price and it's in great condition - they hold up really well.

Good points: SO easy to push, very comfy for baby and toddler, big shopping basket, fits through standard doorways, well made and very sturdy.
Bad points: big when folded so you need to check that it fits in your boot.
I don't use the bus so don't know how it would be on public transport, but if, like me, you spend a lot of time on foot, it's totally worth buying.
And yes, the price is scary, but you're paying for a great product- and you can look for it on e-bay!Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

07-Jan-2007
Very easy to push. Lightweight, looks fantastic. Folds almost flat with wheels off. Huge sun canopy. Easiest double i've had and i've had a phil and ted's, emmuljunga, maclaren and xts boogie!!!!. This double is very narrow and the swivel wheels make it easier to move around the shops and it's also good off road and on the beach! I found the xts too heavy to lift to turn corners and very wide. The maclaren's seats were too narrow for my kids! The phil and ted's is great for older kids but has no space for baby.(my daughter outgrew the space in 4wks!! Also there is nowhere for shopping on the p+t's and it's just as wide as a double with pannier bags! The urban double is by far the best. I can't rate it highly enough. I bought one second hand from ebay as they are very expensive new. I guees if you are expecting twins and money is no object you get a good return second hand and they are well built to last! Also has two huuuge shopping baskets!!!

I think this is great value for money despite a hefty price tag. Because they seem to sell second hand for AT LEAST half what you buy them for new (see ebay). What other quality buggy holds value like that! It's because it is fabulously made to last, hardwearing and safe, people will get out of your way, not like with the flimsy umbrella doubles.

This buggy has been a fantastic buy - it's expensive but worth every penny. I can't believe how easy it is to manouevre and it is narrow enough to go through any normal doorway. It also has the option of putting a single carrycot in for a newborn with a seat for an older sibling which is brilliant - I've been stopped and asked about the buggy by countless admiring mums and grannies! The only thing to be aware of is that although it is very easy to fold down it does take up a fair amount of space so you need a decent amount of boot space in your car.

Whilst the double Mountain Buggy is great for comfort and easy on the road it's a hassle to get on buses, go into shops and it won't fit in a Black Cab. If you're a mom who spends most of her time on foot it's great. If you plan to use any form of transport you might find yourself stuck at the bus stop for long periods!!! it's not easy...so get used to walking!

We have found this pushchair very useful with two children 18 months apart. It is great if you do not plan on putting it in the trunk of your car much. However, the break on our pushchair broke when it was only a few months old and the company was terrible at providing assistance to get it fixed.
