"Safety hazard and bad customer service…"
18-Dec-2012
Initially I loved this push chair which I bought in the UK for my twins and brought out to Singapore, where I live. We used the maxi cosi adapters and seats for the 1st six months and loved the push chair. We moved the twins into the seats at 6 months and within about 6 months of using the seats, the back seat would flip backwards, sometimes trapping my babies hands or feet in between the bars and seat. I called i-candy to be told that because I brought it out of the UK, it was not under warranty anymore and that they couldn't do anything. Then the front seat started to flip backwards too, which would shock the baby and knock the baby sat behind. I called i candy again to be told that they can't do anything as I had shipped it out of the UK. I have suggested that they ship me the part and the Singapore supplier could assist me with fixing it, but this is against safety standards. I have also asked that they replace the seats and I will pay for the shipping, they are unwilling to do so and require me to pay for new seats. So I am now left housebound with an unusable, very expensive pushchair.

"A great investment…"
29-Nov-2012
I didnt have this pram when my twins were babies but I did start to use it when they were 7 months old. I think its a great pram and easy to use, it does take a couple of tries to get use to it but after that I quickly became a pro! The seats are a fantastic size and I like the fact that I can have my children facing outwards but also facing me. When its a cold and raining day I turn them to me and keep them out of the horrible weather. The pram feels really study and i have had many compliments on it. Great choice and I say great investment because I can see it will last my children for a good long time.

"Hard to steer & gets heavier by the day!!…"
13-Sep-2012
ive been using the pear for 12 months now for my twins, i absolutly loved this pushchair from the moment i set eyes on it until around 7months into using it, when it started squeaking every time i turned a corner or up a kerb or down a bump etc! then the front wheels have started to lock up on there own accord so they dont swivel around corners sometimes unless i stop and push the lever down. my twins are fairly average sized babies but i find i cant put the slightly bigger (by 4cms) twin in the lower seat as he is too big and looks silly and kicks his feet off the upper seat like hes trying to stretch out for more room! its also really really heavy to push now and move especially around objects in shops! i dont think it will last another year :(
the brake also falls down on its own when pushing and that makes an awful sound and is probley wearing the tyres down or something.
honestly i have adored this pram and i am gutted that i now have to get rid and find a lighter more practical pramRead moreLessMumsnetter mrsrowl

"When I found out I was expecting again it was…"
29-Sep-2011
When I found out I was expecting again it was purely luck that I had originally bought the iCandy apple - all that was needed was to order the "Pip converter" and presto we had ourselves a double! Having initially found the Apple quite hard-going and durable (my positive spins on saying "heavy") little did I know what I would expect when I'm pushing around two!
This said, I can't fault the pear - its rear tyres have required maintenance from use over the last couple of years - just a case of pumping them up. There is definitely a knack to folding it - but nothing to grumble too much about. The kids seem more than comfortable. I find to give the kids extra room that iCandy make clear allowances - the bumper bar which serves little purpose is detachable, the hood can be adjusted and the foot rest can be adjusted to allow leg room for Abigail (growing by the day!).
I feel very secure using the pear - it's a personal preference of ours over the lighter-weight models. Plus, the option of having an extra long handle suits my 6'3" hubby to a tea!
Overall, for the mother in need of a double I would recommend!Read moreLess3 people found this review helpful.

I LOVE THIS PUSHCHAIR!
The seat units are so roomy despite popular belief that larger toddlers won't fit in them as I was told before I purchased it. I have an 18 month old who is 3 foot tall and he fits in it perfectly, still with lots of room. It can be used in single mode which is fantastic for when the eldest grows out of the pram and wants to walk, its slim enough to fit comfortably on buses/through shop doors, its easy to push and isn't too big and clutsy like other twin pushchairs i've seen. It also looks fantastic, a lot of tandems are pretty hideous to say the least but this one looks brilliant. The thing i've loved the most about it is the fact I had the seat unit AND carrycot. The only thing I will say is the carrycot isn't extremely roomy, DD was 9lbs 6oz at birth and has fully outgrown it at 3 months but its fine because the seat unit fully reclines and shes perfectly comfortable in it. The handle bars adjust according to how tall parent is, it can be rear or forward facing and the shopping basket is surprising very roomy and easy to access.
It is quite pricey but it is SO SO worth it. Definitely the best item we have ever purchased! I would advise to all.Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

For when I reviewed all double strollers was that I needed both of my children to face me on as small a frame as possible. I tested them all, believe me and ended up with the Pear. Its the best so far. I have both my boys facing me on the smallest frame possible. Some of them were just too long.

17-Jan-2011
A great double - perfect for two small children or twins. It is pretty heavy and as the kids get bigger it can be hard going to push but other than that I can't fault it. If you have a tall toddler I would advise buying the taller hood as the front seat is not designed for tall kiddies. Another thing to bear in mind is that in single use it only faces to the rear.
The baby cot addition is pretty small, I had a big baby so it only lasted him six weeks. However I bought it on e-bay and sold it 6 weeks later for the same price!
It may be a pricey pram but when you are finished with it you can get a great price for it on e-bay!Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

"Serious supply chain issues! We ordered an ICandy Pear in…"
13-Sep-2010
Serious supply chain issues! We ordered an ICandy Pear in March ready for the arrival of our second baby who was due in August. Unfortunately ICandy have let us down in a big way. We originally asked for delivery in late June, so that we could get our 1st daughter used to the pushchair in advance. This then went back to late July after they couldn't source orders. Things kept going back and back to the point where it's now mid September, our daughter is now 5 weeks old and we've got no twin pushchair, so I can't leave the house on my own. The supplier is so terrified of ICandy's dominating sales tactics that they won't even complain for fear of losing their contract and therefore we're not even going to get compensation. All in all, for such an expensive pushchair we've been massively disappointed and are now looking at a Baby Jogger City Select instead - whether they're better or worse, at least they're in stock!

I find the pear to be the bees knees for two small children by far the best double I have come across although it is bulky to pack into a boot it outweighs it by its practicality , the only let down is my now tall two year old wont fit into the seat unit as it doesn't seem tall enough to accommodate her it is however wide enough its my dream pushchair and does live up to most of my expectations

"I had a look at one of the previous reviews…"
16-Apr-2010
I had a look at one of the previous reviews and it really put me off the Pear and I pruchsed the Phil & Teds instead. Huge mistake...I wont bore you. I now have the iCandy Pear 5 months and its great. The carry cots are now deeper and you can have the upper seat unit as a single forward and rearward you just have to change around the grooves. It moves nicely and I can have both if my children facing me or away from me. Why would I want them to face back to back....? I purchased a flavour pack for the upper seat unit just to styleit a bit and the hoods are so much bigger. The shopping basket is a bit of a pain to access one way but the other way is fine.
I did look at the iCandy Peach but did not like the fact that both my babies would only ever face outwards.
I did look at the Baby Jogger City Select but you dont get the raincovers, bumper bars or pump. I got the following costs from my retailer about the Baby Jogger City Select.

12-Mar-2010
I have had my ICandy Pear for my twins since birth and they are now a year old. I love it! I am continually stopped and asked about it as it is a really great pram. I have tried the Maclaren Twin Techno and Alu Rax and just don;t rate side-by-sides plus this is one of the only ones in which both my daughters can face me (you tilt the first seat quite flat and then you can see the other one through the window). I did find it a nightmare to close to begin with and that's not much fun with 2 nweborns, after a C-section and with chronic SPD. My only gripe is the ridiculous expense of the accessories and I have to say that mine have been bought on ebay.

"I had the orginal icandy apple (a single pushchair) and…"
08-Feb-2010
I had the orginal icandy apple (a single pushchair) and have recently upgrades it to a double with a "pip" convertor (now it's called a pear.) Having pushed DS1 for just over a year with no problems, I decided the obvious thing to do was upgrade rather than buy a new one, I did consider the icandy peach but upgrading the pear was more cost effective. Well it's been just ideal, the seat and cot and cot configurations seem almost limitless. I can have both DS2 facing me in the car seat and DS1 facing me in the seat unit, he likes it that way still. The handle extends really high which makes it ideal for going up high curbs without me having to hang all my weight over the handle, seen that plenty of times on single and double pushchairs. I'd read the odd comment about cot size but we are just fine and looks like DS2 should make it to 6 months OK before he switches to the seat unit, so we've room to grow still. I like the fact that when DS2 can sit up both will face forward in their seats but I can change these to face me pretty quickly if needed. The steering is good and with the handle in it's higher positon i can push for short periods single handed if necesary. It proved much cheaper than buying a new pushchair and I can continue to push the icandy i love.

"OMG I absolutely HATE this pushchair. I hope my review…"
08-Jan-2010
OMG I absolutely HATE this pushchair. I hope my review can stop other people from making the very expensive mistake I have!
Where do I start?! I bought this for my children when i was expecting my 2nd child. Their age gap is 16 months. We used it as a single buggy for the last 2 months of my pregnancy so she could get used to it.
When using it as a single the child can only face towards you, which is grand when they're younger, but not so good when they're inquisitive toddlers.
When it's a double, they have to both be facing the same way, so we had to have the baby facing away from us so that DD1 could see forwards. If you decide to have them both facing towards you, the nearest seat is the higher one, as the 'PIP' dictates, so it blocks the view of the baby, plus it feels like he is miles away.
My 'average' sized 21 month old's head is now rubbing on the inside of the hood, so very soon the bigger of the seats will be too small. The carrycot is TINY with a really annoying bar at around shin level which makes it really difficult to get the baby in. My son out grew the carrycot at 10 WEEKS!! It really is TINY. Plus, the mattress is intrinsic to the carrycot, so you can't take it out to wash it, nor can you tuck a protective sheet around it. Not ideal, my son only vomited once in it, but that was enough to permanently stain it.
The shopping basket is EXTREMELY difficult to access, i can't stress how annoying this is as it is the only place to store the bulky individual rain covers. So whenever it rained, it meant an almighty struggle to get the covers out, and it took well over a minute to get both covers on once it started raining.
The bigger back tyres are pneumatic, so need regularly inflating, or the steering is DIRE. Don't know why they aren't made of solid rubber really as they can puncture. We bought Icandy Apple wheels for the front to make it easier to steer, as opposed to the big chunky ones that are supplied with it. I found this helped improve the steering, but obviously at additional expense.
The hoods are REALLY noisy to move (so to wake up sleeping babies), and one of ours broke within 3 weeks of using it. The attachment to the seat is rather weak and flimsy and this is where it broke. The hoods actually are really short, and don't extend far enough out to afford any protection from sun(!)/ rain anyway.
The extending handle was fabby at the beginning (I'm 5'10") but is now really stiff and I struggle to squeeze it all the way in with one hand which is what you need to do to fold the pram up.
Slotting the individual seats/ carrycots into the 'pip' is a nightmare, as the buttons you need to push on either side are quite fiddley and difficult to use. I quite often end up pulling the whole pram off the floor just trying to release the seats!
It is huge, and takes up all the space in the boot of our estate car.
I have since bought a maclaren twin techno (for a 1/3 of the price!), which has highlighted that the Icandy is much easier to move up and down kerbs (a plus!), but other than that is a poorly made impractical pram, that drove me to say a fair few sweary words infront of my toddler as i, quite literally, wrestled with it everywhere i went!
I feel so strongly (can you tell!) I plan to write to Icandy to highlight all the above, as I have never spent so much money on something that is so poorly made and designed.
PLEEEEEEASE don't buy this pram!Read moreLess9 people found this review helpful.

I have a 20mo and a newborn... we had a great pram/pushchair for No1 but didn't expect No2 so soon!
After loads of research we decided to get the expensive (but defo worth it) iCandy Pear. I absolutely love it, appear to be the envy of everyone who sees us walking past, and am delighted we upgraded.
It's easy to assemble, fits easily into the car (it should, we have an Smax) and both the kiddies can be seen/see out rather than appearing to be in the shopping basket...
Again, I love it!Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

I love this buggy. I works very well for both my boys (22 months and 7 months). Its easy to push and fits nicely in the entrance to our flat compared to other double buggies (Phil and Ted is too wide). Not so good for travel but I got a second hand Maclaren which I keep in the car. Highly recommend this buggy.

I know the peach is due out soon but my friend has a pear and I've watched her use it with envy for months. My pear is now 18 months old, I have my son who 16 months old up front and baby daughter in the cot facing me, this was exactly what we wanted. We walk long distances and not always on pavements, the lanes here can be a bit rough but the pear copes very well with this, it works well on all surfaces as my sleeping young lady proves. The pear feels as if it will go on forever and the basket holds more than enough supplies for a full day out. Hubby's happy pushing whenever we are out so we are all happy. I would buy another one tomorrow.

I recently ungraded my iCandy apple to a pear and all has gone well, it's a little heavier than the single of course as I've now got two to push but the steering feels as easy as ever. When I bought it I was shown how to stack the seat and carry cot into the chassis for putting it in the car (a ford focus) and this works really well. The extra long handle makes mounting curbs easy even with two on board. My two litle ones are happy and so am I, thanks iCandy.

He said he was having some problems with the quality of their range and recommended the iCandy Pear. It was more expensive with two carry cots but it offered them great back support in those valuable early months. They have just moved in to the seat units at four months and lok great in the car seats too. It has truly made my life, and theirs, simple.

19-Feb-2009
I thought that the concept of this pram was good, but that the reality didn't really meet up to my expectations. The whole thing is very heavy and when taken apart fills up my boot completely, so not the most compact pram on the market. The seat units are very small, and my 19 month old dinky daughter had her head scraping the hood and her legs were all scrunched up in order to get the cosytoes zipped up. Also my 10 week old DS was filling the carry cot seat which is really very shallow. I can see a point where he will be too big for the carrycot, but not big enough to sit in the upright seat unit. ?Having to remove the bumoer bar every time I wanted to get the children in and out was rather cumbersome as well and the basket, although large, was really difficult to get at so not really a useable space. The build quality seems very good though and the styling of it is lovely. I was rather disappointed that it is unlikely to see my children through to walking stage and as such feel that, given how expensive it is, it isn't very good value for money at all.

18-Jan-2009
All in all a very good pushchair system. I love that it functions as a single and double, so you only need one pushchair clutterin up your house!
Pros: easy to steer, fits through front door and into boot. Suitable from newborn with carry cot, can be used as a single pushchair when your eldest is walking. Car seat compatible.
Cons: My son is very long, so has outgrown the carry cot at 10wks - but you can't use the seat unit until they are 6mths (would have had the same prob with phil & teds though)Have to take pushchair apart to put in boot as it won't collapse with pip converter on.
Tips: If you do buy this pushchair, all of the footmuffs, seat snuggles and extra adaptors are on ebay new, much cheaper than the retailer. I also bought the apple car seat adaptors so I can go out with just my little one in the car seat.Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

"The answer to my prayers... When I was pregnant with…"
27-Mar-2008
The answer to my prayers... When I was pregnant with my second child I faced the daunting task of trying to find a twin pushchair that would allow my newborn to lay flat while my toddler had the option of interacting with me or viewing this odd little world we live in. I discounted the Phil and Teds as I personally do not want my baby in the shopping basket or so low to the ground. The Jane Powertwins car seats do not lie flat enough nor can they face both ways so to be honest I had no choice but to try the iCandy Pear. After several months of use I can now report with confidence that this was the perfect buy for my growing family. The system is fool proof to use as the blue or yellow carry cots/Seat units fit in to the blue or yellow holes- Simple. It has many different positions for each child and moves simply. I did have one problem where it became a bit hard to move but when I took it back to my retailer I just needed to pump the back tyres and the Pear returned to doing its perfect moves. I am now using the two seat units in which both of my children are high off the ground and have plenty of viewing room.
Overall I love, love, love, my sweet Pear.Read moreLess4 people found this review helpful.

"I have purchased the iCandy Pear as I all ready…"
21-Feb-2008
I have purchased the iCandy Pear as I all ready had the Apple stroller for my first child and upgraded to the Pear as I have just had my second child. I honestly think it's great. The stroller moves so easily, I can have both my children facing me and it does not take up more room than my original Apple stroller.
Drawbacks- the larger seat unit looked a bit small but then a lady at my nippers store showed me a diagram when the larger seat unit is actually bigger than the phil and teds e3, Jane Powertwin and bugaboo so that solved that. I am also using my Apple hood on the pear seat unit for extra height.
Overall I am one satisfied Mum.Read moreLess4 people found this review helpful.

"Firstly the concept is brilliant. I have a 19 month…"
20-Nov-2007
Firstly the concept is brilliant. I have a 19 month old and a 5 week old so this system appeared to fit the bill. We ordered the pram based on the literature as it states it is suitable for 3 year olds. It isn't!!! My eldest just about fits in the seating unit now and my 5 week old that was 7lb15 born squeezes in the carrycot when he has a snowsuit on, so how we are going to get to 6mths is beyond me.
Getting the pram up is great but collapsing it is a nightmare I have tried endessly to get the knack of this and feel that it is badly designed, I will not risk a retail park car park just yet!!.
I am going to challenge the retailer as we will not get value for money after spendingRead moreLess6 people found this review helpful.
