"I love my Donkey…"
25-Apr-2013
...so many people say " are you the lady with the donkey"
I love that there are few doors I can not fit through as a double.
I can steer it with one hand ( coffee in other)
Great on the beach and in the snow
Stands up on it's own.
My children can both face me or face away. I currently have one in carry cot one in seat.
Yes it is heavy but it is a double buggy and they are heavy. That is something that we just need to embrace as a parent . Having previously had a Phil and teds I much prefer my donkey.
I have four children and feel totally in control with two in the donkey and one on either side. Not crowded, not like it will tip over, and still loads of space underneath. We have down long long road trips with it and managed to pack it up with everything else fine in the boot of our estate car.
I highly recommend it. It has been worth every penny.Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

"Looks beautiful BUT...…"
09-Jan-2013
I bought the donkey duo for a newborn and toddler. I was initially completely sold on the practicalities, thinking this would be a pram to see me for years! The fact it goes from a single to double and back again was a great selling point for us even if it wasn't the easiest to do. It does steer well and feels light to push however the handle I found to feel very plasticky and not very sturdy. If you have it extended at all it wobbles a bit!
I also found the hoods the biggest pain ever. They look gorg when fully pulled over but what toddler wants that all the time? Mine decided she didn't want it at all actually and constantly (and I mean constantly!) pulled it off which it can stupidly very easily do. Very annoying.
The folding mechanism is a bit hit and miss. It has to be held in a certain way for it to work properly so you have to try a few times to get it down. I also found the foam handle bar got easily scratched and damaged as for some reason it Is that that rests on the floor when it's folded! Ok if you're at home but not so great on the street...
This was a great buggy to have for my newborn but I moved very quickly onto a BJCM when newborn could sit upright.
I wouldn't waste your money!Read moreLess5 people found this review helpful.

"Bugaboo Customer Service is terrible…"
19-Oct-2012
I bought a Bugaboo Donkey from John Lewis, who have been wonderful. My daughter was born at the end of June and I've only used the pram for a couple of months but both front wheels don't work. I called John Lewis who have been very helpful but had to pass me over to Bugaboo's customer service because it's their product. Bugaboo have been terrible - rude, unapologetic and when I explained what is wrong I was given the strong impression this is a routine fault with bugaboo. I am very, very dissapointed with Bugaboo and would think again about buying their products. In desperation to get the buggy fixed I posted on their facebook page, but they simply removed my comment and haven't contacted me.

"Great for the first year…"
11-Sep-2012
I would really reccomend this buggy for twins, for the first year. It is so easy to push and manouvere, even one handed. Parent facing is great for the early days. Carry cots are almost full size so we didn't bother with moses baskets in the house. Super comfy. Handy to be able to clip the car seats on with the maxi cosi adaptor. It is very easy to fold / convert to single and back again.
Downsides - the chassis is huge and bulky, taking the seats on and off is a pain when you want to fold it. Even folded it takes up a LOT of space. When you put the adaptors for the car seats on it makes it wider - couldn't fit in some doors or lifts. The tyres are air filled and get punctures.
Overall would definitley reccomend it although be prepared to change for something smaller when you no longer need a travel system. The re-sale value is fantastic though.Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

it was a great buggy untill recently when i was shopping in town i had put my brake on walked 2 inches away from the buggy, heard a bang i turned around and my 3 month old baby was laying face down on the pavement and my 3 yr old disabled son was on his bk in his buggy,as the buggy had tipped upside down and coz my daughter was in her carry cot she came out had to take my kids to hospital the baby had suspected broken arms but lucky enough this time, she walked away with a bruised body swallen face and bruses on hes check and head, unforytunatly mothercare have done nothing to help me with my case neither have bugaboo they are taking my buggy for a investigation but to be honest who would pay all that money to get the treatment ive had they say if they cant find anything wrong with it that i shall just have my buiggy reposted out to me Y WOULD I TRUST THIS BUGGY AGAIN IF ANYONE HAS HAD THE SAME THING PLS GET IN CONTACT WITH ME

"THE best side-by-side for *normal* folk :)…"
25-Jul-2012
This is absolutely the best side-by-side double. Yes, it is pricey, but it resells wells. Yes, it is a side-by-side (dah), so is definitely wider than single buggies [the only narrower double is the MB Duet, but that's unstable (see reviews) and not convertible). It fits through MOST doors, including the tube, trains and lifts. We live in a typical village with small shops and narrow sidewalks - never a problem with the Donkey, it glides right through. Yes, sometimes it's a close fit, but we have yet to find a door we cannot get into.
It is quite bulky when folded, so definitely not ideal for travel. But for day to day use, it's fantastic. It's brilliant at converting from single to double and back again - so ideal for siblings. (For twins (i.e. never needing a single) and if you don't care for children facing you, the Baby Jogger City Mini is a good option with same width but smaller fold)
For both child and parent, a side-by-side is better than a tandem by far. It lets you see the little ones, it lets them see you/world. There's no rivalry, no arguments, no 'short stick' seats. Our two boys really enjoy sitting next to each other, talking and playing along the way. And if you live in a hilly area, a side-by-side is the best option for maneuverability (we had a tandem prior to this, which was a constant struggle).Read moreLess10 people found this review helpful.

"Swivel wheels make it very easy to push, but I find it quite heavy to get in and out of the boot.…"
16-Jul-2012
We bought the Donkey when our twins were 3 months old. First vehicle (pram/pushchair hybrid) was hopeless. John Lewis lady took it out to car park and allowed us try it in the boot, which was useful. She sold it to us on the basis that in tandem buggies, the baby underneath can't be too happy.
What appealed to us was:
*Fits in boot, can be used either with carrycots, buggy seats or car seats.
*Small people can either face you or out.
*Converts to a single for when you lend one twin to your parents (although obviously if you don't have someone's hand-me-down-single for the other baby, you're a bit stuck).
*Swivels very easily in shopping centres and so on, but is also good in the country.
*If you really can't get it through a doorway, you can shrink its width. (Although you would have to take one child out to do this, so its only for use in domestically.)
*It's quite a funky design and comes in lots of colours.
Downsides are:
*I still find the frame fairly heavy to get in and out of the boot (but I am a bit of a weakling at present).
*Covers need reviewed; they tear easily, are hell to put on and difficult to fold/transport.
*It does attract attention and sometimes you just want to get on.
*I wouldn't want to be hauling it on and off public transport (but I don't know if any double buggy would be easy). It carries a hefty price tag.
On the whole I love it. I just wish it would magic itself in and out of the boot. Now that would be special.Read moreLess7 people found this review helpful.

"Not as good as the Chameleon…"
08-May-2012
I adored the Chameleon, thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. So, when I found out we were expecting number 2, it was the first double I thought of and seemed ideal.
However, having bought it and used it for a month, I've really struggled with a few key things. The straps are just too short to fit around my 18 month daughter (who is quite skinny) and really dig in, so she refuses to get in it without crying. The raincover doesn't fit over the footmuff, unless her feet and legs are in the air. The sun canopy doesn't stay on (DD pulls it off all the time, as if in protest for the tight straps).
I reviewed it twice for my blog as honestly as I could, so have a read if you are thinking of buying it! http://lashesandlittleones.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/bugaboo-donkey-update.htmlRead moreLess4 people found this review helpful.

"Great idea but... Before you choose a donkey ask yourself some…"
21-Apr-2012
Great idea but...
Before you choose a donkey ask yourself some questions
1) Am I an investment banker? Can I afford to spend more money on a pushchair than many do on a car?
2) Do I drive a Chelsea tractor? If not then forget the donkey. With 2 car seats, 2 kids 2 adults and the donkey in our VW Golf there is no room for anything else, except in the rear seat well. Enter Ocado.
3) Do I ever want to use public transport?(probably your answers to the first two questions will govern this one). Kiss goodbye to the bus, prepare to struggle on trains and tubes.
4) Do I live in a palace (see Q 1)? Priestly said the pram in the hall is the greatest impediment to creativity. If there's a donkey in the hall you can forget everything else - there'll be no room.
5) Do you walk on pavements? If so then maybe a donkey is not for you. We have to take special routes to the park/shops because we can't fit on the pavements.
6) Do you have standard width doors? Well forget the donkey. It won't fit into the front door of our building. It just gets into the door of our flat. It won't fit found the side of our flat (so we cannot use the rear door)
7) Do you live in a desert? If you add the rain cover the donkey is even wider and it's likely to snag and tear the rain covers on door handles, bushes, well frankly anything.
That said, it's wonderful, it's just too big for normal folk like us.Read moreLess11 people found this review helpful.

"After much debate and months of research before my second…"
03-Feb-2012
After much debate and months of research before my second baby was born, I finally decided to go for the Bugaboo Donkey Duo to use with my just turned 2 year old and new born. I had understood the 'cons' of the pushchair before buying. I.e smaller seat widths, maybe not being able to get through doors, needing a huge car to transport it round in etc. However I have yet to find one flaw that makes this pram something to quibble about.
Its fantastic. Although obviously as a double it is a larger pushchair it is a dream to push, so light and turns at the slightest touch. No problem at all even with my rather large 2 year old. No lagg to one side and no problem up hills and curbs. its brilliant in that department.
The seats also are not an issue. As I said my 2 year old is on the taller side of children and he had plenty of growth room under the canopy/hood and i could get a fist either side of him even with his huge winter all in one coat. So yeah plenty of room for growth over the next 2 years. Also the seats have plenty of leg room and enough space on the foot rest for larger feet.
The fact that I can have my carseat attached to the pram in one simple click has been a life saver for me. When my little boy is sleeping, there is no need to wake him to put him in the carrycot. Just had a seat for my bigger boy and click the carseat on the frame and your off. Also I love that I have the option to have either seat facing me or away. great for when my little one is bigger. My 2 year old likes to look out but I will want my baby to see me etc. And the carrycots are a great size, length and width wise.
Using the pram as a single is also a huge bonus. There have been a few occasions where I only have the baby and this totally solves the issue of needing an extra pram for these few times. And will also have to add that in the flesh the side basket does not look silly or odd and is in actual fact, fantastic for shopping, I totally love that thing ;-)
I have yet to find a single door that I can not fit through, other than my front door. However this isnt an issue as i just load my toddler in the pram push it outside and click on the baby. simple and actually not an extra amount of fuss. (This was my main issue)
The colours are great you can choose your own. I decided on sand bases and black hoods and aprons. I also bought a black Bugaboo footmuff, which is like a bed. its SO thick and I can zip it up all the way to my toddlers neck and even in these cold days, he com es out sweating lol.... So another great buy there.
The handle comes out a very long way and goes down very very low so perfect for any height person
The big wheels make it perfect for any type of terrain and I love them.
NOW FOR THE BIGGEST ISSUE - can it fit in the boot and will I need a bus to transport it?? NO!!!! If you could spare an extra minute and pop it in the mono mode and take of the wheels, you CAN fit it in a small boot. I got the whole thing in VW polo.... And that's a normal size boot. Simple hatchback....Not a problem at all... :-)
So for me, this pram is epic and an complete must if you have 2 children of pram ages. In the last 2 years sice I had my first I have had 16 prams and this is BY FAR the best bit of kit iv owned..Its perfect in every way. Well done Bugaboo and thank you for my brilliant pram.....

14-Jan-2012
Fantastic pram. I have three month old twins and this pram is my life line. Yes, it's expensive and not available everywhere, but does everything I could want. It has side-by-side carrycots and takes car seats - the only one on the market I could find. It's light enough on it's steering for an elderly granny to push around and turns really easily. It has pneumatic lockable tyres for off road walks, which means I don't have a gym membership (mitigates the the cost of the pram).
The only fault I can find is that when I have the Maxi-cosi car seats attached (via the adapter), the pram becomes too wide to fit through standard doors. Carry cots fit through fine though.
Oh, and I had to change the car to fit it all in!Read moreLess4 people found this review helpful.

Very practical side by side. Shocked when it fitted through our standard new build internal and front doors!!! Moves very well. Only down side is the seat for DD 2.5 hits the wheels if front facing and upright. Cannot recline full when facing outwards. Otherwise I love it to bits. Much easier to move than the P&T we tried. Only issue is getting DD out of it. She just loves it.

06-Oct-2011
I think this is a fantastic double pushchair, although it looks big its actually the same size as teh quinny speedi I've been using. It even fits in to the boot of my Fiat Panda (which is tiny!)
It reduces to a single pushchair, so when one child is ready to not be in a pushchair you dont have to buy a new one. We also plan to store this pushchair and use it again if/when we decide to have another one.
It manovers really well and is very light to handle. So far I have no bad points for it!Read moreLess4 people found this review helpful.

I really like it, ok the pros: it is a joy to push. It spins so easily you can manover it with one hand, quite handy when you have to open doors and push them through. Easy to switch the seat positions about, also one handed. My girls seem to like it and they look comfy.
Cons: it feels big and i get comments all the time from people, mainly in the "oh you've got you hands full, don't you" kinda way, it attracts attention so if you don't want that then this isn't the pram for you. It would also benifit from a brake system. I go down a very steep hill to the train station and it freaks me out a bit.Read moreLess7 people found this review helpful.

30-Sep-2011
Was very excited when I heard Bugaboo were bringing out a twin pram and then equally disappointed when I discovered it was a side by side. Not good. It takes up the whole pavement anddoes not easily fit through most doors and as a twin mum it is vital you can get out and about with a minimum amount of fuss which the Ass (better name for it!) will not allow you to do. I would give this pram and its enormous price tag a miss and go for the Icandy or city jogger.

26-Jun-2011
I have the Bugaboo Chameleon as a single and am very happy with the way it works. We are looking for a brillinat double ands I have very high expectations and am not a great fan of compromising.
We tried the Bugaboo Donkley out in John Lewis (exclusive sale agreement until April 2011 as I understand) and were very pleased with it.
I was very keen to have my 19 month old daughter and new baby (due is September) to both face me. I also like the way that new baby isnt stuck at the front or the back behind big sister. If big sister decides at some point she wants to face forward, that is easily achievable without any fuss.
The only consideration now is the cost. The package we want isRead moreLess2 people found this review helpful.
