Mothercare Urban Detour Pinnacle

I have an Urbon detour, I bought mine second hand off ebay. I was a nanny and all my nanny friends with there own kids were getting them, as they used all the really expensive brands of 3 wheeler and realised the Urbon detour was the best on the market. I myself wanted a 3 wheeler, and after wanting a new one after I bought a second hand one I am sticking to my second hand one. I have problems with pains in my wrists, and every light weight pram I bought was hopeless, a nanny friend of mine bought one of these for work second hand so her baby could go in the pram, and if the 4 year old got tired on a long walk he could rest on the foot plate. Well I took her advise and its brill.

I bought the new Phil and teds dash, well that went back in the box as soon as it was set up, what good is a pram when mums need to put a nappy bag on the handle or shopping and the handle is the brake, and it weighs a ton, very odd. I tried the nipper 360, both in the shop and with work, this was terrible, no storage and the extra basket costs

We chose the Urban Detour as it was one of the few we could actually understand how to collapse and put up again when we ventured into the scary world of Mothercare for the first time before our son was born!
POSITIVE: For 20 months this lovely pushchair has withstood walking the dog twice per day on rough tracks, grass and pavements and is still going strong. We have only had 2 punctures in this time.Can store a good amount of baggage/toys/coats/shopping in the sturdy waterproof fabric 'tray' underneath the pushchair.
The handle is a good height for adults to push without straining your back (higher than many other models)and has comfy foam handles that are large enough to hang a big satchel/messenger style bag. All surfaces and fabrics are wipe clean - I can testify to this after cleaning up several bouts of vomit and spilled drinks! 2 zip up pockets on side can fit small toys/gloves/mobile phone and have reflectors on which is good when crossing road. The travel system of car seat and /or carry cot co- ordinates well is equally sturdy and easy to clean and fits very easily onto the pushchair without having to remove/add anything. The fit is highlighted by a red button turning green when the seat/carry cot click into palce correctly. The tyres remove easily with the click of a button so the puschair can be more easily stored away when folded. Folding is very, very easy
NEGATIVE:The inner tube is quite hard to remove form the tyre when you have a puncture - dont lose the tools supplied with the puschair: tyre pump and tyre removal push keys. The car seat is quite heavy compared to others on market but the ease with which it slots into the puschair makes up for this. Teh cosy toes does not fit well onto the pushcair - it fits sufficiently to keep baby warm but has a tendency to slip down as it is only suspended on the pushcahir seat by a few fastenings. Extra velcro would be useful! As the fastenings that hold the seat pad onto the pushchair do so by being pulled through slots in the seat pad there are a few holes in which crumbs and small objects can become lodged so once baby is on finger food you need to de-crumb the pushchair frequently! As other reviewers have mentioned this model is too big for public transport. I have needed helping hands on buses to manouevre into the buggy space so as a result do not go on the bus very often.
I love this pushchair and am hoping to add a boogy board for my toddler when baby 2 arrives so that we can continue to use it.

This pushchair was great when my daughter was tiny and is still good now, although not very comfortable with the cosytoes. It handles really well and is great for one handed driving. The car seat clips on and off the frame really easily. Folding the buggy is also easy, especially with the removable wheels.

However, it is rather large and not at all good on public transport as it is too long for the buggy section and often too wide to fit any other pushchairs beside you. I have had mine for one year now and the wheels have finally given up the ghost, no matter how many times I replace the inner tube, the tyres are flat within a couple of days. I am now going to waste money on another buggy to replace it...

i have the mothercare urban detour and after three kids and various buggies, im very happy with it..i bought it second hand and its still going strong and everything is washable..
I lov ethe fact its a three wheeler..i was feeling very smug recently when everybody else darent go out in this snow or i was watching them ploughing through the snow pulling the buggy backwards whilst i was almost gliding through it all!! it s very easy to push,even with loads of shopping underneath and doesnt tip up even with bags on the handle
the drawstring bag underneath is a godsend..i don t have to take a nappy bag out with me plus theres the little poppered pocket as well where i usually put my purse..
the seat is comfy and wide, def big enough for a bigger child and it lays completely flat..only downside is tha tyou cant gradually alter back seat position ad its done with a strap and it can be fiddly to haveat varying degree but i have it either upright or flat..you could just adjust strap accordingly
disadvantage is heavy and bulky to fit in to boot of car.

I love mine! I don't have a carseat for it but do have a carrycot which is superb and clips on/off so easily. Its a bit of a process to put in the car if I am using the carrycot but without it is easy and removing the rear wheels (which takes seconds) frees up a considerable amount of space. Extremely easy to push over any terrain and not too juddery for the child on rougher ground (especially if you lock the front wheel) although punctures can be a problem - its quite heavy to push home on just 2 wheels! However, I have had mine for 4 years and it has had a LOT of use but is still in perfect condition. Raincover simple to use, extra pockets on the hood and underneath are extremely useful and the shopping basket is a good and practicle size. All in all an easy to use, great pushchair which I wouldn't swap for a 'trendier' one!

too heavy and too big to put in and out of the car. Good for men to push. good over rough ground . prone to punctures which is annoying
