"Worth its weight in gold - best used item in our house!…"
26-Apr-2013
A great 2nd birthday present. Pull them along at first and by 2.5 they'll learn to steer and scoot themselves. A godsend for pushchair refuseniks and while its twice the price of other scooters its more than worth it. Ours has been used every day between 2 & 5.5 and is great for the school run - quicker and more fun than walking. Also a really helpful/nice company to deal with.

"easy and fun to ride!…"
08-Nov-2012
Oh.To be honest when I decided that we need to buy our son Scooter I wanted Mini Micro scooter as I sow it everywhere,in buses, playgrounds and couple of son's friend got one too.It looked so easy to ride! That's why when i checked price and sow that it cost 50 £ I was speechless.Because it was quite pricey, it is not sold in every shop and never ever I seen any discounts. My hubby wasn't very happy to pay so high price for scooter, but he is the one who usually choose expensive items because they are well built and lasts. MY son got neon blue scooter which cost 59 £ and we bought it from John Lewis store. Yes it is expensive but it is worth every penny.Mini Micro scooter is so easy to ride, it also easy for mum to push it when those tiny legs are tired and need some rest. It is great for moving around. Especially when we need to take bus, but nearest bus stop is 10-15 minutes distance, it don' take much space and my son loves to ride his scooter to nursery. It is faster than walking and not heavy to carry home, no need to push empty buggy. Mini Micro Scooter is made in Germany which was the main factor why my hubby agreed to buy scooter, because he believe that all good cars, like Mercedes, BMW is made in Germany and scooter will be great too....

My 2 year old son zooms around on my 4 year old's scooter! These scooters are just perfect for little ones and makes the school run that little bit easier. Would recommend this to anyone and am in the process of buying the bigger style for my daughter as she doesn't get a look in!

09-Oct-2011
I bought this for my 3 year old son. He is still using it daily now, and he is almost 5. It is the best scooter around and worth the price. It is light, flexible, sturdy and as my child became more confident and able, he can confidently steer, brake, and whizz along independently. Parts can easily be replaced and bought online using the Microscooter website to order parts online (the brake broke after 2 years) and you can rebuild the scooter with different coloured foot rests, brakes, handlebars and all the working parts if you need/wish to do so. We are giving the scooter to our younger daughter, now 2 but she already has the hang of it and have bought new (pink!) handlbars and a green brake to freshen it up. Our son is moving onto the Micro Sprite, a 2 wheeler version for 5+ years.

Great lightweight and easy to use scooter. I got this for my son's second birthday and within a month he was really competent on it. It has two front wheels so that little ankles don't get bumped when legs are swooshing back and forward. Because it's light even very young children can use it easily. And as noted earlier it comes apart so can be easily transported in cars or on buggies.

10-Dec-2010
We've really been missing the scooter in the snow! It's so much easier to get around with toddler + scooter + pushchair than toddler + pushchair alone; she'll scoot when she won't walk and will, for some reason, happily be pushed when she's had enough. The handle bit and the scooty bit can be separated (but you need quite strong thumbs and dh still can't work out how to do it...) so it is pretty portable and flexible.

02-Dec-2010
The mini micro scooter has 3 wheels, making it easier for kids from 3-5 to balance as they scoot along. My DS has had his since he was 2yrs 9months and was riding it proficently after about 3 weeks of occasional trys. For over a year it was used every single day and would still be in use now daily except the pavements by school are busy with cars and people and I don't want to risk anybody being injured!
It looks much cooler than other scooters with three wheels for small kids - no big clunky wheels or cartoon characters!
My DS found the mini micro base easy to balance on and the T-bar steering Column easy to get used to. It looks like a smooth ride, and it is easy to go "super fast" which is great for the DCs and not so great for the parents running behind!
One word of caution - do not use this scooter on the pavements until you are 99.9% sure that your DC will stop when they are asked to - or indeed is capable of using the back brake!!!Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

07-Oct-2010
Our dd1 got a mini micro scooter for her 3rd birthday and we all loved it from day 1! I dithered and dithered before buying because we had a perfectly good 3 wheeler scooter that she was very good at but I wanted a scooter that I could sling under dd2s pram when she'd had enough.
Dd2 mastered dd1's scooter the day it arrived (she was 15 months at the time) so there followed 9 months of fighting before we bought a second scooter for dd2's 2nd b'day. We love them so much that we took both to France on an aeroplane for our summer holiday!
This is a fantastic buy and I'd thoroughly recommend getting one. Perfect for ages 2-5.Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

30-Oct-2009
This is definitely worth the extra money - I bought it for my daughter after she had collected 20 stars for sleeping through the night - we kept going to visit in the shop to keep the incentive going. She is 3 1/2 and loves it - we use it instead of a pushchair taking it everywhere. Couple of design flaws - (i) it is really hard to detach the steering pole to collapse down and (ii) could really do with an extension to steering pole for all those times I have pulled her along on it when she gets too tired (but still better than carrying 15kg of toddler around!). HOWEVER, it is lightweight, has really responsive steering once they get the hang of it and is really stable.

12-Nov-2008
Ilove this scooter! We bought it for dd when she was 2.5yrs after having a trial run on a friend's scooter. As it's low to the ground, she was soon whizzing along. It's quite different than a conventional scooter to steer, so her big sister finds it a bit harder to use! I definately agree with the opinions on lowering the recommended age - a confident 2 yr old should quite quickly master this scooter. Well worth the money if you buy it when the children are younger.

We bought this scooter for DS when he was 2.5. It took him a couple of weeks to get the hang of it, but once he did, there was no stopping him. He can go so fast we have to run to keep up, and he finds it really easy to steer. Nearly a year later, he has finally got the hang of using the brake. And not only does he really enjoy using the scooter, it makes it easy to do any local trip on foot in a sensible time.

10-Nov-2008
My daughter adores this scooter and I would go so far as to say it's the best thing we've ever bought for her. The two wheels at the front make it very stable and it doesn't seem to rattle as much as others going over any kind of uneven pavement. The only gripe I have with the design is that it doesn't fold down which makes it a bit of a pain for me to carry home after dropping her off at school. She's had it since the age of two (she's five now) & Ican see it still going strong for another couple of years. Definitely worth paying extra for.

Great scooter for my 4 year old. She learned how to use it within about half an hour and then whizzed off, very fast, over the horizon. Because it has three wheels it is very stable and she has rarely fallen off. It is also very light and so easy to sling over a buggy or carry in my hand when she doesn't want to scoot any more. My nearly two year old is also getting the hang of it.

My DD (aged 4) and my DS (aged 2 and 4 months) both love their scooters. We do quite long scoots with DS but I think his legs get tired after a while, which is probably why the recommended age for use is 3 or over. 06-Nov-2008
My eldest son had this scooter at 3, but didn't get to grips with it until 4. Since then however he has travelled miles on it, had huge amounts of fun and definitely had our money's worth with it. It's made school runs quicker, easier and more fun, and trips out and about much more accessible (no whinging!). Now my younger (and more co-ordinated) 2 year old has inherited the scooter and absolutely loves it. It is light, easy to carry around, has great suspension (compared to other "metal" scooters) and seemingly indestructible. Downsides are that it doesn't cope with holes well & is quite small - so my 5 year old is already looking big for it. Also our brake has fallen off - but you can get a new one with an SAE from micro-scooters! I can't recommend this scooter highly enough - it is expensive, but everyone loves it - I've had children fighting over who gets the next go oodles of times.

Love it. Bought for my small 2 year old because he kept stealing them in playgrounds and it has taken 6 months to get the proper hang of it, but it's lightweight, stable, and good to hook onto the pushchair for spontaneous scooting opportunities. With my second baby in the papoose or pushchair, it's been a useful extra transport system. Even bearable to pull it along, if he stands on it with both feet. Every child has one, so you'll need some identifying marks - stickers etc!

My son got this when he was 3. He doesn't have a problem with the sturdiness of it even though he is tall and as he is not very confident with physical things, he loves it and the fact that he can whizz around on it. Not the cheapest out there, but worth it.

My son got this scooter when he was 2 1/2 and people were amazed at how good he was on it. Now all his friends have got one too. They are the best scooters for pre-schoolers - but watch out, they can go really fast!
Although they don't fold down the bar can be removed easily making them very portable.Read moreLessMumsnetter MacSupermum

I agree with both the above reviewers - it's a fab machine but maybe the age range needs adjusting OR it could be made a bit more robust for the heavier child. Or maybe they could make something bigger for the 3-6 group. My not-very-physical 6 year old boy would certainly find it a lot easier and more confidence-boosting than the big clunky metal ones. But he's too big for his sister's

"I also think this scooter is great. My son got…"

I also think this scooter is great. My son got his two months before his second birthday and was fine from the word go - although he's only just now (at nearly 2 and a half) using the brake rather than the toe of his boot! His friends all have them (they're obligatory kid accessories in N16) and all cope fine.
My only issue is that at 15.5kilos, when my sons uses his scooter, the plastic base bows in the middle and I anticipate handing it down to his younger brother fairly soon when the plastic starts ctaching the pavement.
With this in mind, I think the minimum age recommendation of 3 years is too young - not only can 2yr olds enjoy them, the weight of a 3yr old may be too much. For his third birthday, we'll get the next scooter up - same brand - but with a metal base.
Bit pricey, perhaps - and don't always buy on eBay. I've known people pay more bidding than what I paid at John Lewis!Read moreLessMumsnetter LizzieBG

I bought this for dd age 3, although a bit pricier than other scooters it looks really funky and is great for packing as it's lightweight and easily disassembled. Easy to pull your lo along if they get fed up doing the work.

"At the risk of being OTT I do think that…"
04-Nov-2008
At the risk of being OTT I do think that this little machine is one of the the best things ever and has certainly transformed our family life. With three children aged seven, nine and now almost three, going out for a scoot/walk could be tricky but my youngest dd will go anywhere on her mini micro scooter and I have to run to keep up. She was given it for her second birthday, which might be a tad early, but within a few months she was whizzing around and by age two and half was not only speedy but could keep going for quite long journeys. If she does get tired the scooter gets slung across the back of the buggy. The only downer is that it doesn't fold down, but it's so light we've taken it on holiday on the train/in the car - and again for sightseeing, it's a life saver. The older children will also have a go if she ends up in the buggy, and it seems to stand up to robust by the older siblings. They're not particularly cheap, but make great birthday or christmas presents and - in case you haven't guessed yet - I can't recommend them highly enough.

This is such a great little scooter. Both of my daughters have got one and they love them. Takes a little bit of getting used to , as you have to lean to steer it, but once mastered they absolutely zoom around. Light enough if you end up carrying it,or fits on top of a buggy easily. Another bonus is the fact that they are much quieter than the metal scooters.

My daughter is a very slow walker, but since getting this sccoter we can get much further! If she does get bored it is lightweight and easy to put on top of the buggy. An excellent buy.

I wish I had bought this for DS sooner. He is 2.10 and has really got the hang of this so quickly.
It is very easy to assemble and keep clean, and very simple to use. Ds uses it with his bike helmet and whizzes around on it so easily. We take it on walks through the village, to the park and in the garden.
Be prepared to see them move very fast and be ready to catch hold of them as they head for the road or a parked car.Read moreLessMumsnetter spammandchocolateeggs

"This is actually suitable from three to five or six…"
30-Jul-2007
This is actually suitable from three to five or six years and is a fantastic alternative to the buggyboard. When out with his sister in the buggy, my four year old scoots and holds on to the side of the buggy when he gets tired. Without the buggy he scoots or I hold his hand and we get to where we want to go incredibly quickly. Now his two and a half year old sister has her very own mini-micro scooter (I know, so advanced - she is hysterical to watch as she has to peer over the top of the handle bars) and they whizz along the road causing minor mayhem but having fun getting to the shops. Again, for safety, I can hold her hand or the handlebars to ensure she keeps on the pavement. The three wheels make it easy to balance and the steering is easypeasy - push left to go left, right to go right. Only negative is that they don't last forever but they are a perfect starter scooter.
