"Very safe but heavy and tricky to fit…"
Brilliant seat that gets excellent safety ratings but it is tricky to fit. I am generally confident with fitting car seats but I wouldn't be happy to fit this. We had it fitted at the shop and it has stayed in my car ever since. So suitable to stay in one car but not really if you need to move it around. It is also quite big, we have a decent size car but the front seat has to be on the second most forward setting so might cause problems if you have a regular driver or passenger who is tall.Read moreLess
"Sturdy, comfortable and best of all safe! THE BEST!!…"
Brilliant seat! Although initially the installation of this seat seemed complicated, there were lots of videos online and we mastered it pretty quickly. It is heavy, and would probably not be suitable for constantly swapping between different cars.
The seat itself is lovely- big and spacious and lots of room for older children's legs. It is well padded and has a recline function. Once in the car, seat is secure and I have every faith that in an accident it would withstand a lot.
The most important thing to us was safety, I was disgusted to see the appalling standard achieved in crash tests of the popular forward facing car seats used in the UK. There was no way I was going to put my child in one of those, and leave safety to chance.
Sense would tell you that in a crash, a little one's head is pulled forward and only their body restrained. As their head goes forward, all of the force is then on their neck- potentially causing serious, permanent injury or even death. With rear facing seats, the force of a crash is equally spread over their entire body.
This seat allows me to not worry- the safety rating on it is far higher than legally required in the UK (another scary fact!), but most importantly, this seat is 5 times safer than a similar forward facing car seat.
I realise that giving it 5 stars for value might seem strange as it is quite an expensive seat, but I felt that if this car seat prevents a serious injury, then it is worth the money! I believe this is the safest seat on the market, so the £250-£300 that it costs seems reasonable to me. Peace of mind equals value for money.
Another added bonus with this seat is that you won't need to purchase another one until your child is around 4 years old, which will save a bit of money.
There is a high re-sale value for these seats on sites like Ebay and Preloved, so with this in mind I believe my star rating is accurate.
The only negative I would say is that the instruction booklet which came with it really wasn't very easy to understand. The installation videos online were very helpful though, and after watching one a couple of times, we were confident enough to install it ourselves! Don't let the complicated-ness of installing this seat put you off- we figured the more complicated, the better! And once in the car, it will stay there for a while!
I hope this review helps you decide which seat is best for you and your family.Read moreLess
