"An innovative and excellent product…"
25-Jul-2012
I really didn't think that this was going to work, however I was wrong and have come to love this simple but effective bar.
Firstly, fitting takes some considerable time, at least an hour and a lot of tweaking. However the seat post stays attached to the adult's bike and the receiver kit attaches to the child's and once fitted stays put. Once these are correctly fitted you're looking at less than two minutes to attach or detach. The great advantage of this system is you can cycle for a few miles, detach and then let DS or DD cycle for a while before attaching again when they get tired. The bar folds down and clips to the side of the adult bike. The bar fully detaches in a minute or so and I don't carry it during my commute. When connected up the front wheel of the child's bike is held in the air and not able to move left or right.
We bought this for my DS aged five, he turned six recently and he loves it. We've done at least 200 miles this way including old railways and a canal towpath without incident or trouble. DS can provide some reasonable push from behind and at least carries his own weight.
I'm posting because I genuinely think this is a good product. People stop me and ask where I bought it etc. (Much cheaper online than in the shops) So if you are thinking about buying one I would recommend it.Read moreLessMumsnetter befuddleddad
