"We gave this to our son on his 2nd birthday…"
06-Jun-2010
We gave this to our son on his 2nd birthday - it took him about an hour to get the hang of the balance bike - but within a very few days he was scooting along on this bike as fast as his sister who was pedalling her big girl bike next to him!
The balance bike is FANTASTIC in that your child learns how to balance properly on a bike - build the confidence to ride along - our son was soon riding by building up speed using his feet then lifting his feet up and gliding along quite fast.
He is now 3.5 and is pedalling a normal bike without the need for stabilisers - the transition was the work of a morning.
In terms of this particular balance bike - our son LOVED his 'mini motorbike' (a normal pedal bike is apparently no way as cool as having a 'motor bike'!!).
It is well made-ish - the tyres have withstood hours of play in the dirt, sand and mud BUT it has got bashed around really easily with the soft wood displaying loads of nicks and dents - I say this in case people think of buying an expensive one which can then be sold on ebay, the soft wood means it looks really bashed really quickly.
Unlike many other balance bikes there is no possibility for adjustments - the seat doesn't move nor do the handlebars which means unless your child is of fairly average 2 year old height there are probably better choices out there. Also it is very expensive for what it is - there are plenty of cheaper balance bikes out there which work just aswell - we bought another one forRead moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

This is a great first bike, with proper grownup hard-wearing tyres, a comfy seat and easy to grab handlebars.
Its wooden chassis will appeal to those with lentil weaving organic tendencies but the design is such that dads of a certain age will start humming the Kick Start theme tune. Great looking, it's attracted comments when out and about and even over the garden fence from passers-by! It was easy to build and has real "eyes-wide-open little child in awe" factor on presentation. My little boy can't get enough!Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.
