"Fantastic…"
20-Sep-2012
I bought this to go with my Quinny Buzz & also got the easyfix base.
Overall it has been fantastic - but stay away from light colours (stone etc) as they look old & grubby so much quicker than the blacks etc.
Clearly it must be comfortable because for a few weeks the only time my son slept through the night (if 6 hours counts as a night!) was when he'd been left in his car seat. (The 1st time I napped thinking he'd wake within the hour & woke up realising it was morning) - we soon realised he'd only do it in the car seat!!
I didn't think I'd really care whether I used the base or seat belts but when it's raining & you're darting to the car or simply have a screaming baby it is fantastic to be able to lug seat onto the base & get going! Although it is still very simple to use with seat belts.
I recommend not buying the easyfix base because it is not compatible with the next seat size up, whereas the familyfix base fits with both this seat
& the next.Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

This car seat has been soooooo useful. Great for transporting a sleeping baby in and out of the car. Fits in the shopping trolleys at the supermarket and in the first few weeks I used to put my daughter in it and rock her to sleep. I even bought a second for the grandparents to take her on outings.

26-Apr-2012
Overall a good car seat, compared to the mamas & papas seat we had for our other son.
However if you use the car seat on a pram, then there is an annoying feature. To unclip the car seat from the pram, you have to press a button on either side, requiring both hands. This means you don't have a free hand to lift the seat off the pram chassis using the handle. This is fine with a newborn but as baby gets heavier, you really want to be able to lift the seat with the handle rather than trying to lift it holding it either side which is a lot more difficult.Read moreLess6 people found this review helpful.

11-Feb-2012
So far so good. Our rather chunky 12week old ds has already grown too big to need the padded insert. So I'm concerned it won't last him too long but that's not maxi cosy's fault. We bought it with the familyfix base unit which gives you the 3 lights to know you've secured it properly which I really like. Ds loves it and usually falls asleep in it, so I can only assume by that it's really comfy. And it's easy to carry around with him in it.
The only other complaint is that the handle seems to have scratched really easily. I know that doesn't really affect anything other than the aesthetics but thought it was worth pointing out.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

Love it, easy to use, spacious, good support for new born and adapts as they get bigger. Great that it is compatible with so many different pushchairs. Wondered whether the easy fit base would be necessary but this is so simple to fit without. Definately recommend, found it at a great price on amazon.

07-Dec-2010
Comments from Mumsnetters: "It's light, fits securely into the car and is easy to install", "stylish and sturdy, we have 100% confidence in it". Users liked the fitted sunshade and "the insert means that the baby can lie really flat which is great for small babies". It "doubles up as a rocker" and "fits on a Quinny chassis to form a travel system - a huge bonus". There was one complaint: "the two bumps at the side of the handle can make it a bit awkward to carry". But overall: "precisely what you want from a newborn car seat".

"we have used this car seat since our son was…"
26-Oct-2010
we have used this car seat since our son was born and he is 6 months old, I have loved it at times and hated it at others...this is why:
Loved it because:
- it fits easily in the car and for me comes out easy
- when he was first born he seemed very secure and comforatble in it
- it fits quickly and easily on to the pram wheels to go into travel system mode
Hated it because:
- It had become incredible heavy to carry him in it as he has got bigger
- He gets very hot whilst in it, even if its just for a quick trip to the supermarket
- the handle gets very stiff
All in all it has served us well but now even though he is only 6 months I am looking at having to change to a bigger seatRead moreLessMumsnetter DanielsMummy86

"I have a love-hate relationship with this seat! Upsides *…"
12-Aug-2010
I have a love-hate relationship with this seat!
Upsides
* Very good in crash tests according to Which report
* DS sleeps well in it
* With the isofix you know you've got the seat corretly fitted on the base as the indicators turn green.
* Straps easy to adjust
* Sunshade function
Downsides
* Awkward to get in and out of a small car (we have a Toyota Yaris) due to lack of space between the back of the passenger seat and the foot of the isofix base (might be better in a bigger car)
* Awkward to carry if you have a heavy child!
* Handle is still quite stiff after 7 months use
* Expensive and the Easyfix base is only compatible with this seat (which I didn't realise when buying).
I doubt it will last us until a year.Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

This is good car seat for the age bracket.
Things I like:
* Fits in most cars
* Lovely hide away sunshade
* Bigger than some other makes, so does last for at least 9 months
Things I'm not so keen on:
* The seatbelt gets in the way when trying to get baby in and out if your not taking the whole thing out
* The sunshade can pop off if you haven't made sure it's on securely / big brother fingers have been investigating covering baby,,,,but not enough to suffocate!Read moreLessMumsnetter Kyte

Really pleased with our Maxi cosi - DD was prem and was recommended by SCBU, she has always looked very comfortable and sleeps well, we are using the easy base as no isofix and it is rock solid in the car - really pleased! Simple to get in and out and great that can do it without waking her! She did get slightly sweaty over the summer (but so did friends babies in other seats) - we brought the summer cover that maxi cosi do and it solved the problem :)

06-Sep-2009
I really hate the Maxi Cosis we've got. Our 10-week old twins look really uncomfortable in them, all scrunched up and miserable. They get really sweaty underneath. We've got the seats on the ISO-fix base, but it's quite awkward to get them in and particularly out. And, gosh, they are heavy to carry.
My sister's baby is in a new Jane seat, which is nearly flat with only the head tilted. This seems much more appropriate for a newborn, and means you can drive for more than 2 hours without stopping.Read moreLessMumsnetter MildredwithTwins

We loved our CabrioFix so much that when it came time to buy the next car seat up, I went straight for another Maxi Cosi.
The CabrioFix is great. Come in loads of colours, covers are removable for washing, has a built in sun shade, clips neatly in and out of the ISOFix base, has a lovely head hugger to keep newborns comfy, it has side impact protection and the carry handle locks in 3 positions (1 for carrying, 1 for rocking when on the floor and 1 for fixed when on the floor)

Easy to use. We have the isofix base (which I find a little difficult to use due to the need for strength in your thumb but which once in makes life very easy) and it is really easy to get him in and out of the car. The seat is snug and secure though I am not convinced that it will last quite as long as our man already looks to be filling it at 19 Ilbs. It is light and comes with a sun shade and with attachments fits onto our Bugaboo. With the newborn insert he looked snug and comfy. Do think that though the covers are removable that it would be virtually impossible to replace the covers due to tiny elastic loops that have to hook over tiny plastic hooks in difficult places. We just use a muslin as a liner for safety sake! Overall would buy again.

Fantastic! We had twins and thought this was the most padded and comfortable car-seat around. Thinking they would be premature this was a huge consideration in our choice. As it was they were a fair size at birth (6lbs+ each) but this was better than we imagined. We used them for 18months, until I persuaded my other half they needed to move into the next stage. They lay, slept, rocked and ate in them! Well worth the money, as were the isofix bases. I'd definately recommend them, especially for twin family's.

03-Nov-2008
Maybe it is a slightly nerdy thing to do, but before buying a car seat I checked Which? independent consumer magazine for the crash safety test results of all car seats out there- Maxi Cosi have scored highest in all tests, several years running...and are not that expensive either (although not the cheapest). It's annoying when you get a car seat from another manufacturer thrown into a package travel system, because then you feel stuoid buying another car seat- unless you have a Quinny or Bugaboo- these 2 manufacturers have gotten it right: they have realised that most people want the safest seat and so haven't bothered making their own- clever!
I would only ever recommend these seats to anyone- safety is far more important than any coordinating look after all.Read moreLessMumsnetter lamamma

Brilliant seat! We had 2 for our twins and they are still in use at 15months. They're well padded and we chose them as we thought the boys would be premature and small (they weren't!). We've used them both in the car and for feeding them in when we're out and about. We also bought the easy-fix bases and they are so simple to get in and out of the car. Would definately recommend both the seats and the bases - definately worth the money.

An excellent car seat which is really light to carry. The rain cover folds away into a hidden compartment at the back - although a little fiddly. Suitable for smaller cars where other seats do not fit. Rather cosy for the child and well protected. Easy to get the child in and out. Little more expensive than some other seats but worth the expense.

We bought this as it was rated number 1 in Which? tests for crash safety. It is a lovely car seat, and DS1 would nod off in it very easily in the first few weeks when we would drive him around to get him to sleep. It has a god reclining position so he doesn't slump forwards, and also clips onto his pram-wheels which is very convenient, and has accessories such as rain cover, cat net. We couldn't get a parasol for it but mothercare's own fits perfectly. we got the one which clips into a base in you car and would highly recommend as sometimes you don't want to wake your little one getting them in and out of the car. The best place to invest your money due to the ammount of time your baby spends in it! The maxi cosi is easy to fit (especially with the isofix base) and sturdy. Baby is protected well with flexible cushioning that makes it as comfy day one as month 5 (so far!). Smart and practical it has a hidden sun shade which I only discovered 3 months in. It slots onto our Bugaboo so great for trasforming into a buggy for off road travel during the first few months when baby would roll in the cot chasis. The only limitor when I bought was trying to buy a colour other than black which can make baby a bit hot in summer - ask your stockist to get you a toweling cover for the seat at around

05-Oct-2007
I loved the Maxi Cosi Cabriofix, and so did baby. I thought the removable 'wedge' in the newborn headhugger was great as it mean dd wasn't folded in two while she was in the seat, and when she was big enough to not need that but still needed the headhugger, I just took the wedge out. Great idea. I found the seat really easy to put in and out of the car, even in hubbie's car that has really short seatbelts. I thought the sunshade was very faffy, but it did the job once it was up. Would have preferred a hood, but you can't have everything. Overall a great seat, and I'll be choosing Maxi-Cosi for my next stage seat as well.

Good little car seat. Straps take a bit of working out, and it's not easy to lengthen them. Also bit fiddly to put in and out of the car, but fits in most cars and is easy to carry and lightweight. Also has side impact protection. Me and other mums find it's too small for the little one's legs to be fully extended when it's rear-facing by the time they get to a year old though, i.e. before they reach the official maximum upper weight limit.

Easy to fit - we have short seatbelts in the back and had no problems fitting this. You can buy a raincover for this for about ?10 online - especially useful if you use the seat with a travel system..

This used with the iso fix base is meant to be the safest on the market. It is really comfortable, looks good and easy to get in and out of the car.

we used it with the isofix base and so it was incredibly quick and easy to fit into the car each time we went out. really sturdy and fits onto our bugaboo wheels for quick dashes into the shops too. quite heavy, but i think all car seats are with a baby in them!

they look great - I got a patterned one off an e-bay seller in Germany. It fits onto the Quinny Zapp pushchair. My son loves sitting in it when I take him out, as if youput it on the floor it is like a rocker: the more he kicks his legs, the more it rocks.

Comfy and secure-looking even from birth. Rocker feature good. Sun hood handy. Knobs on side a pain. Inconvenient to have to press knobs on both sides (taking two hands) to move handle from upright to folded down position.

A very good car seat, it holds the newborn in a very reclined position as apposed to others which are rather upright.

Fantastic. Looks good, goes onto the Quinny base. We use it with an easyfix base so it means that you just clunk it into place. Would definitely recommend.

I use this with the isofix base and its fantastic - comfy for baby and clicks into place with a colour indicator to give peace of mind it's installed correctly. I have also bought the raincover which fits neatly into the compartment on the back and the footmuff which is ideal for keeping baby warm and zips off easily to stop her overheating.

This looks great (wide range of colours) and is really comfortable. Its so easy to use, far quicker and easier than using a seat belt model. Its quite heavy I find and expensive but its meant to be the safest type you can buy so well worth the money in my view.

Great. Fits onto the Bugaboo Gecko and Cameleon chassis which is very useful when you are out and about in the car. Fits onto the Quinny Zapp chassis as well. The sunshade makes it quite practical.

Not expensive for the amount of time you use it and doubles up as a rocker. Every time our baby sits in it he falls asleep, so it must be comfortable !
it is compatible with the Bugaboo chameleon which is a very popular buggy nowadays and clicks in easily. It unclicks less easily though and my hands often hurt from releasing the maxi cosi from the buggy. A great buy !Read moreLess"Excellent car seat! The pads and head rest make it…"

Excellent car seat! The pads and head rest make it fit very small to very large babies. My son is now 23 lbs and is still comfortable in it. The footmuff for this seat is also also an invaluable extra you can purchase.

Looks great, very easy to use once you get used to it and easy to fit on Bugaboo. Feels comfortable enough to travel and fall asleep in and has good head support.
