Was really struggling to find a carseat that fits my old style nissan micra. This one is perfect. Good size, great design, really sturdy and looks super comfy. My 6 month old seems happy!

Having been involved in a high speed accident where my daughters side of the car got hit, I can not recommend this car seat highly enough. A car pulled out into her side of the car, spun us and we ended up in a hedge and I am so very grateful to this car seat. The car seat is not damaged and neither is my daughter. As we have been in an accident I will be replacing it with the exact same car seat.
I have never used it in rear facing mode but have had it for 2 years now and it regularly gets moved between an Astra. Polo and Fiesta. I have never had any problems with it and will be telling Britax how much I love them!!!Read moreLessMumsnetter lilywhite80

19-Dec-2010
Like some other reviewers, we also bought because dc's head was lolling forward in existing infant seat. She instantly looked SO much more comfortable and better protected. Still using rear-facing at 16 months with no problems - and DC is tall for her age. Not portable but straightforward to fit. Recommend.

07-Dec-2010
Comments from Mumsnetters: This "luxuriously padded car seat" although expensive was considered "excellent value for money". It can be rear-facing for newborns (with an insert) and then at nine months make a forward facing reclining seat. "Heavy but sturdy, if a bit bulky" it "looks amazing" and reclines "which is great for snoozing and stopping the child's head from lolling forwards". Reviewers found it "pretty easy" to install but "not ideal for swapping from car to car". "Easy to clean" it has "reassuring side impact protection". Overall: "you get a very solid, long-lasting seat for the cost of three tanks of petrol".

I've used this seat for both my DCs. DS is still using it rear facing at 16 months. It feels nice and secure in the car and always looks good (it's easy to clean the covers). Highly recommended.
It's not portable, you leave it in the car. But as it's not great for newborns to spend too long in car seats I never had a problem moving the babies into their pram when we arrived at our destination.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

29-Mar-2008
This was the only car seat suitable for our Vauxhall Astra - the height of the seat-belt buckle post meant "buckle-crunching" with most other car-seats. Not too difficult to install, has alternative routing to avoid buckle-crunch. A bit expensive but bub looks v comfortable in it. Also reclinable for when he falls asleep.

Feels safe and secure. Comfortable. Removable washable cover is very handy. The reclining seat is great for when your child is sleeping. Not that easy to move from car to car but it's not really designed for that anyway. The seat is higher than some car seats so children can see out of the window easily (and tell you they've seen a car every two minutes!!!) We've been using our since birth and my son is 20 months now, and it's been great so far.

"We got this as our son's second stage car seat…"
03-Jan-2008
We got this as our son's second stage car seat and we used the rear facing mode for the first month or so to get him used to it. It seems very comfortable for him and the recline function is brilliant. Very good value for money only gripe would be that as mentioned in other reviews it is a little tricky moving from car to car as the seatbelt does have to be looped through various places and tightened, but that is a major safety feature and so necessary, just a little time consuming and fiddly! Once you've done it a few times its ok.
I trust this seat 100% and would recommend to others.Read moreLessMumsnetter JJsMumma

Brilliant, compare to the cost of a carrier seat at 80-90 and this is cheap as it will outlast the rest. I used mine until 16 months as they were quite bulky compared to high back boosters.

Grest seat if you only want to buy 1 ! Not easy to swap between cars and can be a bit hard to put baby in when in rear facing mode but you can get the knack with practice ! When adjusting the straps to next level do one at a time to avoid getting them twisted the wrong way round.

05-Oct-2007
Ideal if you want one seat to last you all the way through. Can be a bit awkward to get a newborn into, especially the way the seat belt crosses over.
Having said that, it seems very firm and steady and, ofcourse, safe. As a forward facing seat its fantastic.
Ideal for those of use who just leave the seat in one car.Read moreLessMumsnetter mozzybear

29-Aug-2007
Love this carseat! Bought it when ds was 5 months, as his head kept flopping forward in his infant carrier. The recline function on this ensures that this never happens. It's a substantial carseat that looks comfortable and well made, but is quite heavy to transfer between cars. Not a problem if you don't do it often though. It's a bit fiddly to get the baby in and out in the rear facing mode, as you have to unthread the seatbelt, but you soon get the hang of it, and the increased comfort compared to an infant carirer makes it worth it.Never used it with the newborn insert as he was too big, but it looks lovely and comfy. got mine fro

Baby has been comfortable in this from birth (she is now a tall 16 month old). The newborn insert is removable and then the seat itself is quite roomy. The only downside was that because we didn't have a portable carseat, the silly hospital caused a fuss before they would let us leave with our newborn . . . No problems with the seat itself though and I've managed to fit it easily in at least 7 different cars!

had to have this as only seat that would fit in our vauxhall. But happy with it now. Has two ways of fitting so will suit just about any car. Useful if planning to use in two different cars like us, or if you think you might change cars before needing a new seat!

It has good reviews in terms of safety which is what you want in the first instance in a car seat you have afterall bought it to ensure your child is carried safely in the car. Installing it is fairly simple and can be moved from car to car in a space of 5 to 10 minutes. The look of the seat is nothing special - you just feel reassured that it is big and bulky so therefore there is a lot of seat around the child.

07-Jan-2007
This is a really luxuriously padded carseat. It's newborn padded insert looks especially comfortable for tiny tots.
Once I'd figured out the instructions (for some reason mine were in French) the child seat is very easy to install. As with all Britax carseats the place where the car seat belt is supposed to be routed through has little slots, which makes it easy to remember how to install the carseat.
The big drawback is that the carseat is bulky. This is fine if you intend to leave the carseat in the car at all times. However when the carseat is installed facing backward for babies, it get's a bit difficult to put the baby in the car as the seatbelt get's in the way. The other options are to put the baby in the carseat first and then install the carseat, or climb into the car and buckle the baby in from the other side. So a bit fiddly.
A big plus for this particular carseat has to be it's reclining feature, it almost completely eliminates the possibility of the childs head lolling uncomfortably forwards when the child falls asleep, a feature which would have persuaded me to buy the same carseat for dd1 had I known.
The biggest plus for the safety conscious are the deep side impact protectors, the depth also acts as cushion if the baby falls asleep and his/her head lools to the side.
All in all a luxuriously padded, good looking carseat. The price is a bit steep but the carseat is suppposed to last the child till they are at least 7 years old.Read moreLess"Terrific seat. My mum is Australia even bought one to…"

Easy to use day to day as long as you don't have to carry it around too much as it is heavy and bulky. Once it is in the car it seems pretty comfy (baby sleeps in it most of the time!) Looks and feels safe and sturdy.

Good value for money as suitable from birth as rear facing with newborn insert cushion, then becomes front facing. You have to leave it in the car and in rear facing mode it is a bit tricky to get baby in over the seatbelt, but very comfortable and although quite big, it seems very safe as has lots of padding and side protection.

Well padded and comfortable only downsides are that in the rear facing position in our car it left little space between the door and seat to get baby in and out and the seat cover is fiddily to remove due to the straps and buskles. Generally would recommend but a bit on teh expensive side
