"Awkward and uncomfortable"
22-May-2012
We regret this purchase for 2 main reasons:
1. Strapping toddler in is awkward, and involves leaning across the bulky seat or running round the other side of the car. Using the car's own seat belt means it is a hassle to draw belt out to correct length before attaching, unlike other harnesses which one adjusted remain at a quick-to-attach length. I have found it a real bother to strap our daughter in, especially if she is being active; as for doing it whilst pregnant, forget it
2. The tummy bar seems uncomfortable for her - too loose and she slips underneath; too tight and it presses on her tummy (not a good idea especially after meals). It also impinges on her arm movements. I dont blame her for not wanting to be in it, it looks like a straightjacket
I would agree with the comments about being easy to adjust size, move from side to side and size of head protection. Also have no reason to doubt its safety record. But the frustration of getting her in and then watching her sit there pinioned to her seat make me wish we had chosen another car seat. I would trade it in for a 5pt harness system in a flash.Read moreLessMumsnetter Someonesomewhere

"Secure, Safe..."
06-May-2012
I read the comment about child slipping under and I cannot figure out how that is possible. I can only reason you have not secured your child correctly in the seat. I have never had this problem. Children will throw tantrums every so often no matter what. The seat is brill.

"I added my review for this seat under the original"
18-Mar-2012
I added my review for this seat under the original guardian pro..... As this wasn't listed. I feel strongly that parents should try this before buying, to see if their child wriggles out or objects to the restraint. For the parents who were able to reason with their child, I can only assume you have a child older than 9 months or indeed is an incredibly reasonable child. I'd also suggest that people ask themselves if a car seat will actually last 13+ years, before using this as a justification to buy..... I'm sure it would last, but there could be several new forms of life living in it.
Our Kiddy Guardian Pro 2 is in the loft, where it will stay until our daughter is old enough.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

"We've used this car seat for just over 9 months."
15-Mar-2012
We've used this car seat for just over 9 months. Kids from 18mths to 5 years have sat in it and have found it fab!
We've travelled 1000s of miles since, including 2 12+ hour overnight drives. I swapped from a Britax Evolva. This seat is worth every penny! I love that it is super light to transfer between our two cars and super easy to adjust to the height of the child. These seats are very straightforward to buckle up my 3 year old & 4.5 year old both are able to buckle themselves up in this seat! The seat belt guide is intuitive. Even with the impact shield buckling up is super easy and intuitive.
The feature that I love most about his seat- the slight reclining ability of the backrest of this car seat. This feature comes in very handy if you have a car with captain style reclinable seats or are using the child seat on the front passenger seat- when the child is sleeping you recline the main seat & the kids are still held secure in the protective car seat, that just fits perfectly! Love it! It allows for long quite drives, while you know your little ones sleep very well. (No head hanging, kinked neck, etc.)The cover is very easy to remove and wash, dries fast too (as we have learnt due to a frequently carsick child). The seat is well-padded and is very comfortable, despite a couple of very long overnight trip in the car, the children have never complained about it.
The one feature I cannot appreciate is the leg extension bit- This has not been a feature I have found a real use for.
I was slightly apprehensive of the protection bar- the Kiddy Impact Shield- but my fears were mislaid. Yes, children can wriggle themselves out of it, as one friend's child started to do. But that's when I stopped the car and said we are not going anywhere till he stops this silliness...; it worked! Little Man has never tried to get out of it. He accepts that it is there for his protection & the policeman will be very angry if he is not strapped in. It actually gives him more freedom of movement to look around than our previous Britax or Maxi Cozy 5 point seat straps did.
Overall, we love this seat & would highly recommend it to any family considering a good long term seat.Read moreLessMumsnetter Rosenbud

"The Guardian Pro 2 is suitable from about 9 months"
27-Sep-2011
The Guardian Pro 2 is suitable from about 9 months right the way through until your child no longer needs a car seat. We are currently using it in the group 1 format which means that our daughter sits in the seat and is held in place with the Kiddy impact shield. We strap the main car seat belt over the impact shield and then pull the belt tight in place. It is incredibly easy to fit.
Something we really like is how light the seat is, and how easy it is to move around. Our daughter is at that stage now where she throws tantrums for anything and everything and she will quite regularly DEMAND that the car seat is moved from the left to the right side of the car. With her old car seat this simply wouldn't have been an option. With the Guardian Pro 2, it takes about 1 second to move the seat.
We found the seat really easy to tailor to our daughter. There is a very simple insert which you can fold or unfold to increase your child's height against the impact shield. The most impressive thing though is the single lever that you need to pull in order to raise the headrest and widen the shoulder supports all in one neat move. It is so easy to do compared to all previous seats we have tried.
The level of impact protection around the head is really noticeable... the head area really protrudes so I don't think you could fit three of these car seats across the back seat of a car.
We have (unfortunately) already had a need to try out how easy it is to remove and wash the car seat covers and I can confirm that it was pretty intuitive and the covers came out of the wash looking just fine (we risked the washing machine)
The Kiddy Guardian Pro 2 is available for around £239.00.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.
