"Am I allowed to do another review, or can this"
05-Mar-2012
Am I allowed to do another review, or can this be added to my original review please? I had a very minor problem with the Besafe 18 months after buying it. The Besafe rep actually came out to the house and fixed the seat within 5 minutes, all completely free of charge. Absolutely outstanding customer service, something I've never heard of from any other car seat manufacturer. Thank you Besafe!!

"Lets start by saying this seat is excellent and I"
27-Feb-2012
Lets start by saying this seat is excellent and I have no hesitation in giving it 10 out of 10.
We originally bought a much cheaper rear facing Recaro Polaric isofix seat which was very good but large and very very noisy (it rattled constantly and drove my wife and I mad).
So the only alternative was paying £100 more and getting the isofix Besafe Izi Kid X3.
Installation took less than 5 minutes and I wouldn't have any problems moving it from car to car although it is heavy if you're a mum and like to reserve all your strength for lugging your kids around all day!!
The build quality is superb. There is no scoring box on this website for build quality which is strange but it is excellent. The seat is fixed solidly to the base and all the fixtures and fitting work perfectly. The seat is silent with no rattles or squeaks at all.
Its also takes up much less room than the Recaro so rearward visibility for the driver is not impaired and the room taken up in the back of the car is minimal.
Ok it's a fairly heavy seat but weight equals durability, quality and strength. In the event on an accident you don't want something that's made out of cheap material.
The seat seems to be very comfortable and although our 16 month old is still to give me her full appraisal on comfort I am guessing that she's very happy in it.
I would recommend this seat without any hesitation. If £300 odd is too expensive there are cheaper belt fixed models to chose from and I'm pretty sure that you'd be able to recoup a fair bit of dosh if you sold it second-hand on an auction site.
If you've stumbled across this review because you're yet to decide on a forward or rear facing car seat but are swaying towards front facing (it's a personal preference thing after all) then I would recommend you look at the Kiddy Guardian Pro or the Cybex Pallas from Mamas and Papas. They are not as safe as rearward facing but if you have to have forward facing they are twice as safe as a standard 3 point harness car seat and last until the child is 12 years old too. Personally I think that a lot more manufacturers will be moving away from 3 point harnesses in the near future.Read moreLessMumsnetter chrisDad78

"This is a really good rear facing seat. I agree"
24-Oct-2011
This is a really good rear facing seat.
I agree the cover takes a while to get on/ off, but it washes well.
It is really simple to install, and we've had no issues moving it from one car to another.
DD seems really comfortable in it, and she is nice and high to get a good view
It's not the cheapest seat, but well built and has little features like magnets to hold the strap out of the way which some of the cheaper seats don't.Read moreLessMumsnetter Barbeasty

"We have been using this seat since our son was"
29-Sep-2011
We have been using this seat since our son was 5 months and he's now 2 1/2. Keeping your child rearfacing until they are at least 4 is advised by the British Medical Association and is the norm in Sweden. It has been proven to be much safer for children who have heavy heads and vulnerable necks.
We love this seat- comfy and very easy to install with isofix once you know how. The other reviewers have said it's hard to move between cars but although heavy I find it pretty easy and quick - easier than fiddling with strapping in seats and no worries about wrong installation.
One downside- the covers are washable but you need to put an afternoon aside to refit them- very complicated! Only done it once following major vomit!
Also it's not as big as you might think- we have had it in a polo, focus and even a 3 door mini with enough space for me (5'10") in the front.Read moreLessMumsnetter HLY

"We have had this seat for almost a year now"
29-Jul-2011
We have had this seat for almost a year now and my son is very happy in it.
The biggest negative comment I hear from people is that kids get bored in a rear facing seat but this is not the case - my son happily watches the traffic behind us (if we get a bus behind he is ecstatic!) and has an excellent side view as he is so high. We have a mirror on the headrest of the seat his carseat is placed on and this means the driver can see his face.
The only negative about the seat is the weight and bulk make it less convenient for switching cars but the safety considerations far outweighed this for us.
The straps are comfy, easy to adjust. Plenty of legroom (my toddler is at the tall end and he's fine). Lots of padding.
Overall very happy.Read moreLessMumsnetter chelen

"I absolutely love this seat. We ended up buying two,"
06-May-2011
I absolutely love this seat. We ended up buying two, one for the in-laws and one for our car. It takes up less space than some of the other extended rear facing seats and will fit into a Nissan Micra. It's really easy to install using the isofix points. As it lasts for four years and is five times safer than a forward facing seat I think it's great value for money.
It is quite heavy so not ideal if you have to switch between cars frequently, but once you get the hang of it, it's not too bad to move if necessary. I also love the height of the seat. My daughter gets a great view of passing cars and the scenery. In forward facing seats all she can see is the back of the front seat.Read moreLessMumsnetter worldgonecrazy
