"Awesome…"
10-May-2013
This has been worth every penny. Our son is 18months now and is heavy and wriggly. It's easy to get him in and out of his seat even if someone has parked really close.
The only negative is that if I've forgotten to tilt it, it's almost impossible to then tilt it from either the front passenger seat or drivers. And he then does the nodding dog impression.Read moreLessMumsnetter aliedwards

"Poor strap design makes it difficult to use with wriggling toddler…"
28-Apr-2013
I bought this seat because of all the rave reviews about it turning and it's true, that aspect of the chair is helpful and a good idea.
Sadly, I think the strap design means all the benefits of the rotating design are lost. I have a 15 month old who, at times, hates going in the car/car seat and wriggles, cries, planks, arches her back. The fact that the seat turns might help with this, if it weren't for the fact that the straps are, in my opinion, really badly designed. There is a buckle on either strap, which you need to clip together and clip into the bit between your baby's legs. The buckles on the straps slide up and down and there's no way to fix them at the level that suits your baby, so EVERY time you have to fish around by your baby's bum to retrieve the buckle - a real inconvenience if your baby is wriggling or worse. If this seat had the belt/buckle from the Maxi-cosi Pebble, it would be much better.Read moreLessMumsnetter Snowgirl1

"No more bending in and out of cars…"
30-Jan-2013
I've lost count the amount of times passer-bys have asked me to look at our axiss as I've been getting my son out of the car. We originally had a generic seat, however as he got bigger we were forecer bumping his head as we got him in and out of the car. When our second son came along we purchased this, and i'ts been brilliant! Although I must admit, I have driven off down the road once or twice without swinging him back around - at least he got a different view out the window! Another added bonus is that when he falls asleep you can recline it so his head doesn't fall forward.

"Utterly Utterly brilliant…"
12-Nov-2012
Twisting the seat towards the door means that putting wriggling toddlers into the car seat is so much easier. It is also brilliant in tight car parking spaces when you can't open the door wide.
It is heavy and although straightforward enough to install it's a bit of a faff so not one to buy if you are going to have to move it between cars often.
It's comfortable and durable. four years of constant use and it's still great.
One of the pricier seats on the market but for ease of use I would say it's worth it. We've always had lots of positive comments when people have seen us use it.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

23-Dec-2011
I am really happy with this seat, bought because I had back problems and did not want to make them worse. Also had a VERY heavy little boy and lugging him into a seat was hard. It is also quicker to put baby in and take him out, especially on the days it pours and he is in wriggle-mode.
nice solid seat, you can buy covers and its nice to see him staring out at things going by because of its height.Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

"An awesome car seat. I've installed and taken out lots…"
30-Nov-2011
An awesome car seat. I've installed and taken out lots of times and it's very easy to do yourself - no men necessary! The ratchet is very reassuringly tight, and it's flexible as it can, with a push of a button, be for right hand or left hand doors (and therefore turns one way or the other). A great feature is that it 'locks' to be one or the other, so that, should you have an older child/toddler sat next to the child in the Axis, they can't unlock the seat and turn the child to face them in the Axiss mid-journey - have no fear!.
The straps are easily adjustable, and have great little hooks either side to help with ease of getting them in and out without the straps in the way - very handy! Straps are easily extended/tightened -great especially in winter when they can have a thick coat one day, and a jumper making the straps baggy the next...It has a great tilt mechanism with several positions - very handy if like me you have a giant 9 month old who needs a bigger car seat at a young age, but yet you want them higher up - to see you, things going past, and to encourage them to recline and sleep. It's easily cleaned/wiped down - my son gets all sorts all over it and nothing has stuck. Whilst it appears a 'big unit' when it arrives, it is actually quite light, easily transportable, and we've taken it in a taxi, and on a flight several times with no problems/complaints from flight staff in order to get to family abroad.
Lastly, the whole 'swivel' mechanism is a life saver - I don't have a great back, and it is just so easy. Can operate with one hand whilst juggling my toddler, and he loves it when it swings round - great fun, and had many compliments on it from friends who are breaking their backs with none swivel models!Read moreLess3 people found this review helpful.

"A really great seat and the swivel action is fantastic.…"
04-Feb-2011
A really great seat and the swivel action is fantastic. I found it really easy to fit in our car and the seat belt tensioner makes it easy to get a really firm fit with the seat belt. DS regularly falls asleep in it so he probably finds it quite comfortable! It's easy to move between the different positions as well.
One draw back was that the strap you pull on to tighten the straps was very very difficult to pull at first but that has eased off with use. Otherwise I'd highly recommend this seat.Read moreLessMumsnetter cairnterrier

"I have been using the maxi cosi axiss for 9…"
19-Jan-2011
I have been using the maxi cosi axiss for 9 months now and I think it's well worth every penny. I watch other mums struggling trying to reach around to fit their child into forward facing car seats and realise how much easier life is with the axiss. I had no trouble fitting the seat into my passat estate but I believe you have to check compatability with each model of car. I've got to say that the seat doesn't move at all even when my 6'2 DH tried his best to push it from side to side to check stability. There's no way we would put our DD in a seat we thought wasn't stable enough to stand an impact. If I had to give a down side it would be the size of the shoulder straps, they are on the large side! But overall I would recommend this car seat.

23-Nov-2010
Brilliant seat with the swivel action helping to prevent back problems. A previous review has criticised the seat belt tensioner but I am sure their problem is that they haven't followed the instructions and have fitted the tensioner the wrong way round. Very easy and the seat belt tensioner makes it a much more stable seat than those just relying on the seat belt being pulled tight.

"Utterly awful. Was very excited to buy this, it swivels!…"
02-Jul-2010
Utterly awful. Was very excited to buy this, it swivels! But unfortunately that's as good as it gets. In the event mine has had to go back after one use because the button that tightens the straps has broken but I won't be replacing it with another one. The seat is ridiculously hard to install, I spent two hours on the stupid spindle tensioning thingy and even then the seat never felt secure. When you swivel the seat round to install the child the seat moves out of position so you have to kick it back. Very reassuring... It is impossible to recline the seat from the front when the child falls asleep - the Priori XP is dead simple. The shoulder pads swamped my 2yo, they would have been big enough for me!
All in all a rotten, rubbish seat. Feel ashamed Maxi Cosi.Read moreLessMumsnetter Rockbird

"I was lucky enough to win one of these seats…"
20-Sep-2009
I was lucky enough to win one of these seats so didn't have the expense of buying it, however I wouldn't be without it now. The swivel feature is fantastic, I suffer from recurrent lower back pain and not having to contort myself to get a toddler - who doesn't want to be restrained - into the seat and secured is a godsend. The seat looks comfortable and Ellie regularly falls asleep in it. The recline positions are good too. Can be quite fiddly to fit if you don't have Isofix in your car but if you intend to leave it in the car permanently this isn't really an issue. I would definitely recommend this seat to anyone whether you have back problems or not.

If you suffer from any kind of back problem, then look no further. The swivel on this seat means you don't have to twist into any awkward positions to get your child into the car. My husband and I have both got chronic back issues and give thanks Bebe Confort for designing this chair everytime we use it!

For those with bad backs and wriggling toddlers this is a godsend. The seat can be swivelled to face you as you insert said wriggling toddler meaning you don't have to lean into the car at awkward angles to insert child. DH has a very bad back and so is delighted. Only downsides are the price (

26-Jun-2009
We've had this car seat for two months now and love it. Putting baby into the car seat and getting him out is so much easier because you can turn the seat to face you. Baby is cosy and it reclines into 8 different positions. The seat is easy to install too. We've had lots of admiration from friends and relatives remarking on its "genius" design. Our son loves it too, which was most important after hours of crying and screaming in his previous seat!

This car seat is amazing! So much easier to put my daughter in than the Maxi Cosi cabriofix she's just grown out of. The revolving function makes getting her in and out of the car simple and the reclining function is great when she falls asleep. You can get it quite a lot cheaper online if you do a bit of looking and it's well worth it.

I know this car seat is expensive but I can honestly say it is money well spent. It is fantastic!! Easy to install in your car and tells you by showing a green indicator when it has been installed properly. The harness is easily adjustable and the seat can relcine when your little one falls alseep. The best bit is that the seat is able to rotate 90% - this truly is a back saver. We have had so many people commenting on it and I would recommend this seat over and over again.

Fab! I have severe back problems and this car seat means I can take DS out again - at 17 months he can climb up in to the seat himself and it's very easy to turn. It's more of a faff to install than other car seats but as you rarely move it that's not a problem.

03-Aug-2007
this seat is brilliant as it rotates so you can load your child with it facing you and then swing them round to face forward once they are strapped in. It is really easy to use and has a button that you press to let it recline to a number of positions. A fantastic seat if you have a bad back or particularly heavy child. Its expensive but well worth it for the ease of use.
