"Fantastic, if you're willing to attach to wall…"
I was sent this to test by Mumsnet.
It's fantastic. You do need to attach it to the wall, so require a drill and some basic fittings, but this will take anyone with experience about 30 minutes. Once in, it's perfect. It will fit narrow or wide spaces - anything awkward basically - and when open it doesn't have any lip or sill running across the bottom, so no chance of tripping. If we were in a permanent house, I would have them everywhere!Read moreLess
"good value for the price, and great for those awkward stairs.…"
A little time consuming to fit, and requires drilling into the wall, but the gates are well made and work well once hung. Our stairs are too wide for the easyfit gates, and this gate is perfect.Read moreLess
"Easy to fit.…"
This gate is great for those places that are slightly wider or narrower than usual. I was expecting it to be difficult to fit as you have to drill it to the wall. However, I'm glad to say I was pleasantly surprised and had it up in no time. The locking mechanism is easy to work out but a bit fiddly. Although this means a young child could not figure it out easily.Read moreLess
"Good for awkward spaces…"
We live in a first floor flat and have some awkward door openings that won't take a regular sized stair gate. This gate has solved those problems by being wide enough to cover the extra width gap. The gate was relatively straightforward to install although did involve drilling into the wall. It is securely fixed. We have been pleased by how sturdy and robust the gate appears to be.Read moreLess
"Great for narrow staircase…"
We have a very narrow staircase so had trouble finding a stair gate to fit. This one not only fits but doesn't have the bar at the bottom when open, so no tripping hazard.
So pleased with it - strong, sturdy, easy to use and not too bulky.Read moreLess

Great for extra wide openings. Once the gate is fully extended it loses a bit of rigidity.Read moreLess

We have several of the metal ones. They are excellent, and strong.
One gate was put out of service when I fell over and hit it; the plastic wallmounting snapped (and I had a sore knee for a while) but Lindam were very fast at getting us replacement mountings at reasonable cost.
We also bought some small clips from a camping supplies, which meant we could clip the gate back against a wall if not in use; very handy as it then didn't swing outwards.Read moreLess

"We got the wooden version whice fits in well with…"
We got the wooden version whice fits in well with decor (stands out less than metal ones). It has an easy to use lever to open and shut it. It has no floor bar so is easy to put at the top and bottom of the stairs (nothing to trip over) but this means it needs fitting to the wall and banister. It is easy to assemble and fit.
The only downside to this stair gate is that it is an 'easy release' gate - which means you can lift it off easily. This is great if it is going to be used at a grandparents house and they don't want a gate up all the time but we find it a bit of a pain as an everyday gate - it comes off in my hands if I'm a bit heavy handed and lift the gate up too far.Read moreLess
"We got the metal gate as it gets a good…"
We got the metal gate as it gets a good review from Which. It is a brilliant, simple and sturdy, no frills gate which can fit gaps 70cm to 102cm. We have a complicated opening on our stairs with a very wide opening and an extra bit of wall on one corner and this still fits safely. The only down sides are that it is a little fiddly to fit and is screwed to the wall so isn't easily moved. However, I can't even hang a picture straight and I still managed to fit the gate alone. Being screwed makes it perfect for wonky banisters. Finally, as there is no floor bar there is no risk of tumbling down the stairs, bleary eyed, with the baby! and the cheapest gate I found, what more can you ask for?Read moreLess
