"Great overall but can ruin paintwork…"
21-Aug-2012
We were really pleased with this gate until we stopped using it and found that we had secured it so tightly that it took off some of the paintwork on the wall and the bannister. I don't know if this was our fault but I can't imagine wanting to have it any less securely fixed, especially given that my toddler liked to pull on it.

"We have two of these gates bought at different times.…"
28-Feb-2012
We have two of these gates bought at different times. The design of the handle is slightly different on both. the original one, bought late 2010 has a really chunky, wide handle, it is easy to squeeze the two button things to open.
The other, bought sept 2011, has a very narrow handle, and the buttons are very small and stiff, and it is alot harder to open.
They both were called the same thing though, and came in the same box.
Would definately recommend, very easy to set up, straightforward to use.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

15-Nov-2011
We got two of these for up and down the stairs when my little one started cruising around. So 2 years on, they are still there. It was easy for hubby to put them. We needed to get used to open it. BUt once you get the hang of it you will realise how to open it one handedly. Which is good because seeing us doing by one hand my toddler now tries to replicate us unsuccessfully. The only minus is, you need to keep checking if it still on place and if it moved a little (toddler tantrum) than put it in place in order to prevent future falling. Otherwise I can not fault it. We do not need them now. But it is a brill excuse to keep them shut when there are loads of guests with kids around. These stop them to go upstairs and messing there, phew...

"The stairgate was very easy to put up and took…"
09-Oct-2011
The stairgate was very easy to put up and took about 10 minutes to go from in the box to fixed to the wall which was great.
It is very difficult to open one handed which is a shame but does make it harder to determined little ones to accidentally open it.
The major problem with the gate is that when used on slightly unusually designed stairs its internal pressure can cause it to gradually warp itself out of shape and damages the wall or stairs where it attaches.
It also cannot withstand the weight of an adult falling onto it via the stairs, it is likely to come free from the wall in those circumstances but hopefully not many people will have that problem.
Overall it is a good product but it works best with standard width stairs with no unusual features.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

Easy to put up and operate. Once toddler is older they can slide it out of place by climbing on it though, slight damage to paintwork where it is fixed to the stairs but overall very good value for money.

very easy to set up and use. The opening isn't as wide as other stairgates though and it's quite easy to catch DS's legs as I sidle through. Very good price though.

09-Dec-2010
I really love this gate. I live in a house with very narrow doorways and this was the only gate narrow enough to stay put. We also used it at the top of the stairs and found it sat easily, without being a trip hazard and didn't move when knocked. We also found it was one of the few gates our daughter couldn't open!

I really like this gate. It's easy to intsall and actually fits a slightly larger gap than specified. the handle is easy to use and can be done with a baby in arms if coordinated. I have two now and they are brilliant...definitely recommend!

I had 3 and they lasted 5 years and still looked in good condition when I sold them on ebay. Long lasting, tough, easy to use for the parents and hard for the kids. I really can't fault them. I've used other models at friends house but preferred these.

Has a reasonable size "door" so easy to get through. Our landing is quite narrow and this was one of the only ones that would have fit. Easy to open even if you have baby on your arm. Also very good pressure fit. Would buy again. Downside is blue bits on it do not look so good.

We have 3 of these so we must like them - only problem is I have a ring of bruises around my thighs where I keep bashing into them!! Also, not keen on the bar at the base of the gate - wouldn't dare risk putting one at the top of the stairs as it is a definite trip hazard!
