"Bomb-proof!"
16-May-2012
I took a long time researching cloth nappies and the research paid off, the flip is just great! Cheaper than all in ones, option of organic cotton or stay dry inserts and some cute colours. I have used these since around 4 weeks and have not experienced any major leaks or problems.
Only "con" is that there are not lots of cute patterns to choose from compared to some all in ones!Read moreLessMumsnetter mumofblue

"I'm a first time parent and am using the Bumgenius"
29-Mar-2012
I'm a first time parent and am using the Bumgenius Flip system with DD, now ten weeks. We use a mixture of the stay dry and organic inserts - I find the organic inserts seem more absorbent over night after a few washes, but the stay dry inserts dry extremely quickly on a radiator rack.
The fit is excellent and we only seem to have leaks if DD is lying on her side; I'm hoping the leaks will stop when she's a bit bigger (we've had the same problem when occasionally using disposables). The wraps are great and come in a range of lovely colours, though I'd love to see some prints. We use them with Bambino Mio liners for our EBF daughter.
I am not especially impressed with the disposable inserts - the idea is genius but I find that the inserts feel wet very quickly and don't last very long. They also work out at about 20p per disposable insert, which is quite a lot more expensive than a standard disposable nappy.
Finally, the nappies wash well and do get more absorbent, and stay soft with line/ radiator drying. Any stains disappear quickly if you line dry on a sunny day. Overall, I'm very happy with the nappies and am glad that I didn't go with all in ones, which I would struggle to dry in time. We have 16 liners and 5 wraps and usually wash every other day.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

"I love my flips. I was new to washables as"
07-Oct-2011
I love my flips. I was new to washables as with DD1 12 years ago I used disposables (which I hated), so I wanted something quite simple. These are very simple to use, DH and DD1 have no problems doing changes The covers are lovely and soft and come in nice colours. The stay-dry inserts wash clean and dry overnight on an airer and I just wash every other day (and have not ran out). I have 8 wraps and 24 inserts. DD2 is 6 weeks and 10lb7oz popped down to the small size they fit lovely and cope well with BF runny poos. I choose to use fleece liners in mine and so far have noticed way less red bums and nappy rashes than DD1 had. For a 2 part system they are so simple to use and I would say don't be put off just because they are not an all in one. I would only suggest one improvement and that is the back flap could be bigger to hold the insert more securely, especially when you have it folded down to small.

"I bought these and use them along side Bumgenius all"
27-Aug-2011
I bought these and use them along side Bumgenius all in ones as well as some tots bots. I find them to be really reliable with an exclusively breastfeed 5 month old. I've been using them for 2 months now and really like them. I use them when we're home, and use Bambino Mio cotton inserts. They work really well. They really cut down on washing if you're used to using all in ones.
In short:
- the fabric is very nice
- they don't leak, and fit even skinny babies well
- you can reuse each outer several times, having 4 on the go for holiday seemed to work out well for us.
- the poppers will last a long time, compared with the velcro of all in ones.
Overall, if you've never tried a 2 part system, it's a good place to start. Or if you want to ease the amount of washing you're doing it's a great alternative.Read moreLessMumsnetter runjumpclimbswim

"I used Bumgenius V3 for 18 months and with a"
29-Jun-2011
I used Bumgenius V3 for 18 months and with a second child on the way I thought I'd try the Flips. The idea is brilliant, being able to reuse the outer and just swap the inner with the potential of disposable inserts for traveling. The reality was that they leaked every single time. Due to the fact that the inserts aren't held in place on either side, they bunch in the middle and wee leaks out the side. I was disappointed with these and got rid of them - stuck to the V3 in the end.

"I didn't think I would like these but I was"
05-Apr-2011
I didn't think I would like these but I was pleasantly surprised.
The wrap fits DS really nicely and the stay dry and organic inserts are both very absorbent. The wrap works really well with my other nappies too.
I wouldn't have these as my only nappy not least because I like prints on DS, but I can see the versitility could be useful.Read moreLessMumsnetter notso

"Excellent nappy, love the stay dry insert, quick drying, absorbant,"

Excellent nappy, love the stay dry insert, quick drying, absorbant, no leaks, slim fitting, easy to use.
The organic cotton insert is very absorbant but needs alot of washes prior to using to reach full absorbancy.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

"These are excellent, I started out using disposbles as the"
04-Jan-2011
These are excellent, I started out using disposbles as the thought of reusables felt too much and my husband was not keen. We have briefly tried disposables whilst away overnight- no where near as good and we were both desperate to return to using the flips, definately our preference- they are far more absorbent and reliable! I don't get leaks (had lots with disposables), they are quick to dry (couple of hours on the radiator) and require no stuffing or prep. I have bumgenius nappies which I had planned to soley use but on discovering this system now use these in the day, take up far less space in the change bag and a much more reasonable price. Love that I wont have to buy a new size as baby grows as you just undo the poppers and the nappy grows in size, the inserts have size guides so it is clear how to adjust as the baby grows.
Bought kit from babipur- great service and quick delivery- kit easily lasts 3days. Would also recommend Boot disposable liners they are really soft and can be washed and reused if only wet.
Plus points
Cheaper than most nappy systems
Compact
Less washing than other systems
Cotton and microfibre inserts are very quick to dry and super absorbent
Good fit and easy to adjust
No leaks
Have the option of a disposable insert for travel or days out
Easy to wrap a nappy liner around the insert
No stuffing required
Quick nappy changes as no wraps and inners
Easier than i thought to deal with dirty nappies- just wrap a liner around the insert and pick up from the corners and pop in the bin
Negatives
If you opt for the organic cotton inserts they need a lot of prewashing to reach optimum absorbency.Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

"We bought some Bumgenius Flips - I have found them"
13-Jul-2010
We bought some Bumgenius Flips - I have found them fantastic.
They are really slimlined, so easy to get trousers over the top, plus they are wonderfully absorbent, there have been a couple of occasions where we left one on for longer than the recommended 4 hours (blush, not the sort of thing I should admit to, it was only a few times, honest!) and they were still holding the wee in just fine.
They dry really quickly, far quicker than the Bumgenius organic all in ones that we also had.
I would really recommend them, they are easy to use, reliable and look cute!Read moreLessMumsnetter GrowlingLucifer
