Great product for daytime but not nearly absorbant enough for night time. Runny poo also a pain until baby is perfect fit for wrap then very little leakage. Do seem to wash wraps a lot more than I expected and they have been stained by poo. Very easy to use although my husband was reluctant initially!
Using fleece liners which my lo prefers over mesh ones that leave creases all over her bum!! Definatly cuts down on the desposables we use and since I got newborn & small haf price, cost effective too. Will try another brand next I think. Didnt buy full set as my nephew had trouble finding a nappy to suit so thought we would be more cautious just in case lo didnt like them.Read moreLessMumsnetter Loika

(Didn't rate value for money as got them second hand and unsure of price.)
Not absorbent enough - have had lots of wet clothes. Have used other pre-folds which were much better. Insert is bulky, has to be back-folded to fit the outer and takes too long to dry.Read moreLessMumsnetter AnaisB

I found these nappies easy to use and clean, although we tended to use folded up terry squares (folded into the pad shape) inside the outers to save money.

I've tried numerous different types of reusable nappies before these including Fuzzi Bunz, Wonderoos and found Bambino Mio nappies to be much better than all of them! No major problems - they last as long as a disposable nappy and dry much quicker than I originally thought.

13-Jul-2010
I was given a set by our next door neighbour (so can't complain too much, as they were free for us!) but I certainly would not pay for them. They looked nice, they were cute on, and not too bulky, but we found them to be so unreliable. We just never knew when they were going to spring a leak! Poos were fine, but wees were at times, verging on catastrophic, often leaking very dramatically indeed.
In the end, we stopped using them, and swapped to Bumgenius - much better!Read moreLessMumsnetter GrowlingLucifer

I really like them & use them on my 6 month old daughter Olivia. Good quality cotton nappies. Easy to use and really quick drying. I thought they were pretty cheap cost-wise vs the competition too.

There is sometimes some leakage on the inside of the waterproof covers and but then if I were using an all in one nappy then i would have to wash the entire thing every time whether the waterproof outer was soiled or not.
BM have changed to a more durable waterproof fabric so take care not to get old stock if you buy privately or second hand.Read moreLessMumsnetter js40

"Used these with my first baby from birth to potty…"
24-Apr-2010
Used these with my first baby from birth to potty training, having recieved some 2nd hand in a clothing bundle, we thought we'd give them a whirl. She was only 5lb at birth and the nappies were very bulky on her, but the outer wraps have fitted quite well all the way through. Ended up buying loads of outers though as the poo always got on them, and the cotton prefolds took so long to dry that we needed loads to prevent running out while waiting for the last lot to dry!! Also found that the prefolds became very hard and stiff if not tumbled-dry, making them bulky and uncomfortable to wear.
The outer wraps didn't last as long as we had hoped, some lost their elastic pretty quickly, others their waterproof-ness, and the velcro curled so much on some that they would not stay done up.
These nappies did the job, but we have found that Naughty Baby pocket nappies are much softer, easier to use and dry quicker, so are using these on our second baby.Read moreLessMumsnetter drainonthestate

"I'm a bit surprised how low bambino mio appear in…"
31-Mar-2010
I'm a bit surprised how low bambino mio appear in the review ratings. I bought them as they are an award-winning brand and have been using them for 4 months and find them very easy to use, with a very simple to fold nappy and cover. The covers fit my baby very well and I haven't had a problem with leaking, even with runny breastfed poo. The velcro only rubs if you don't position it properly in my experience - it's important to get the right size nappy cover, but they are very well fitted at the legs if you do. They are a nice slim fit for a reusable nappy. I do usually wash the nappy cover after each poo and have 6 covers and 18 prefolds that last me 2 or 3 days. We moved up from small to medium recently as I'm v. happy with this system. I think the two-part system is much better than all-in-ones which you have to change whenever your baby is wet and cost an arm and a leg.

Lots of leaks, every poo hit the cover, we had to buy loads of covers in addition to the ones in the birth to potty pack we (stupidly) bought before my DS was born. Are using terry squares now with baby 2 and never looked back. No leaks whatsoever and can't even remember when I washed any of the covers last (probably means that I should give them a spin - heehee).

"I am a reusable nappy fan! I've worked out that…"
12-Oct-2009
I am a reusable nappy fan! I've worked out that even though I have now bought 5 newborn covers, 5 small covers, 5 medium covers, 18 size 1 nappies and 18 size 2 nappies and 2 packs of liners that I am still in the black compared to the equivalent number of disposable nappies.
I have to buy 5 of each size of wrapper because the dirty breast-fed nappies always require me to wash the cover as well... bambino mios really aren't good at keeping the poo in!
I find that the wraps can be re-used for wet nappies. The wraps are always a bit smaller than their size claims - a 7-9kg wrap only seems to work for my little one from 6-8 kilos.
I agree with others about the velcro sometimes rubbing but I've only found this a problem since my little one moved up to the medium nappy covers.
The nappies themselves are extremely easy to wash and to fold. I also find that they dry very quickly outside or in. I tend to use an unbranded nappy booster inside the folded nappy during the night to add extra absorbency.
I don't normally use bambino mios when I am out and about because I'm scared of having to trapse around with a dirty nappy in my bag! I must admit I use disposables when I'm travelling.
The wraps look cute and fit well so I'm happy to deal with the leaky poos because the other advantages out-weigh the negatives.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

Am now on 3rd child with cotton nappies. Still use Bambino cotton pads, but avoid the wraps, which stop being waterproof after a few washes. Pity because they seem to fit the best for really little babies, which I specialise in! So now use Bambino Mio prefolds with Motherease wraps which are brilliant.

04-Jan-2009
I agree that they tend to leak with Bfed poo - I seem to always have to wash the wrap as well. Cope better now we're moving on to solids. I have also noticed that velcro on wrapper tends to rub on tummy. I still use them every day despite this, and I don't find the folding a problem at all, but I will probably try another brand when we grow out of size 1s!

I tried a variety of nappies before deciding on Bambino Mio's. I liked the fact that they were slim-lined, not as bulky as some of the others that made my LO's bum look huge! I find that they are pretty good on absorbency and containment, although preparing the prefolds took a bit of getting used to. You just need to be careful that you get the right size covers, otherwise they can rub on the tummy.

16-Jul-2008
We were given a load of these when I was pregnant and were reasonably happy with the leak containment, dirty clothes were rare. The main problem was that the velcro folded in over the top of the prefold and rubbed on DS tummy. He sometimes got sore legs too. Had to buy some bigger size wraps and were disappointed at how they washed and we are now looking at replacing at least the wraps. Not a problem to dry without a tumble dryer.

19-Mar-2008
They are cheap, quick to dry (handy if you don't have a tumble dryer), but not brilliant at containing bfed runny poo. I tend to find I have to wash the wraps after poo explosions. But I do find them easy to use, though they do have a habit of leaking of they've been on for more than 3-4 hours (less if baby is a heavy wetter), so I tend to use them during the day rather than night time.
I think for bfed babies you are better off not using the liner - just rinse the poo off into the toiler before dumping in the nappy pail.
Also not the easiest nappy to get the hang of - not a good idea for occasional babysitters to use!Read moreLessMumsnetter Bouncingturtle

08-Mar-2008
What a great idea, I thought, I can save money and help the environment - Wrong!! This system consists of a flushable nappy liner, washable nappy and waterproof nappy pants. It wasn't the washing that got me down it was that no matter which way and how long I persevered with them they just constantly leaked, simple as that.
