"Lasts ages, good absorbtion…"
You can leave this nappy on after it's wet as it doesn't have the harmful chemicals of other disposables, just absorbs the wee. My children never had nappy rashes. You end up using less nappies, rather than changing too often, wasting less and less for the landfill.Read moreLess
My husband is an environmental consultant and did the research on best eco friendly nappies, he said that these were the market leader (closely followed by bambo) so we tried them first and have never had a reason to change. They fit beautifully and are very absorbent. We have had runs of leaking overnight but I think this is par for the course with a boy who still has one night feed and my friends report the same issue with the mainstream brands. Very sad that we have to temporarily switch to another brand because we are visiting America for 2 months!Read moreLess
Although we mostly use cloth nappies, when going away this is our "go-to" nappy. Like the natural components used and have far less chemicals in them than the average nappy. Although, unless you have a VERY big compost heap to put these on, they aren't going to biodegrade in the landfill (nothing does) so cloth nappies are still much more environmentally friendly.Read moreLess

"After using disposables with my first son, I fully intended…"
After using disposables with my first son, I fully intended to use washable nappies this time around... Until I found out I was having twins!
To soothe my conscience a little I thought I'd at least try a more ecological disposable nappy, but if I'm honest I fully expected them to be pretty poor in comparison to other disposables. I bought a pack of 52 Moltex Oko nappies in Midi (9lb - 20lb) and I was very, very impressed!
The main difference is the colour - as they are unbleached, they are light brown. Apart from that they look just like regular disposables and are shaped the same and feature the same re-sealable tabs. They seem comfortable for both my twins. I was impressed that the packaging is also fully compostable. I also found these nappies smelt better when dirty - as they don't emit the 'wet chemical' smell I have noticed with other brands.
Performance-wise they 'hold their own' well against the bigger brands like Pampers and Huggies in terms of absorption, however, one advantage Pampers have over them is that Pampers nappies actually draw soft breastfed poo away from the baby's skin whereas these aren't quite that sophisticated.
On reflection this seems a small sacrifice though for what are otherwise very good nappies that can be used with a slightly clearer conscience than other disposables for around 20p per poop!Read moreLess

I have been using moltex since my daughter was about one month - we used pampers before as Moltex seem only to go from size 2, rather than size 1 and the ones we had were too massive.

This is now my second baby and I wouldn't use any other nappies. I used washables for my first and he developed horrendous nappy rash. I don't know whether it was as a result of this, but as soon as I swapped to moltex it cleared. My newborn (now 5 months) has never had any problems since moltex. Also I do find that although they are more expensive I think they are more cost effective as they don't need changing as often as the "commercial" nappies.Read moreLess

I used to use these at night, as I wasn't happy with DD in a washable over night, but now I just use them when away from home but still, wouldn't swap them for anything else. We use these alongside washable nappies, and have found them to be excellent. They leak far less than the Pampers/Huggies that we occasionally use as the Moltex are not over-filled with the heavy gel that makes them sag and pull away from the baby's skin once they are even slightly wet. I also very much like the fact that they don't smell of chemicals. I recommend these to all new mothers, they're brilliant.Read moreLess

"I tried washable nappies on my daughter but she was…"
I tried washable nappies on my daughter but she was really miserable in them and in the end screamed when ever I changed her. I wasn't happy about using disposables due to their chemical content and the fact that they hang around for so many years!
I therefore did some research and came across Moltex Oko, a German "eco friendly" disposable. I sent for a free sample and was so impressed I ordered 400 straight away!
They are light brown in colour as they've not been bleached and they don't contain any water absorbing gel/chemicals but they work just as well as pampers, which I did use whilst waiting for my order to arrive.
They are easy to fit just like a regular disposable, have refastenable (not sure if that's a word!)tabs and my daughter no longer screams when I change her which has to be a good thing!
They seem to be pretty competent at containing explosive breastfed poo, with only one or two leaks around the legs. This could be due to the fact that my daughter is long and thin, chubbier legs may be the solution to this problem. They actually seem more effective than reglaur disposables at stopping it shooting up the back as they have an extra bit of elastication in this area.
I suppose the only downside is the price but I'm willing to pay just for the peace of mind that my daughter isn't going to be sitting in chemicals for the first two years of her life! They come in at about 19p per nappy for the midi size (9-20lb).Read moreLess

I found that after using Moltex for a while, if I had to use a huggies or pampers nappy, I felt they were inferior, pampers seemed to be too thin. I didn't like the gel that they used, which Moltex does not use, or appears to be different. Ideal if you care about the environment but washable nappies don't fit in with your lifestyle or families needs, and never once had poo escaping or nappy rash, which my children had with other brands in the past. Could not leave child in nappy for more than about 4 hrs, which al of us may have accidently done at one time in our life. The worst that happens is that clothes get a bit damp (if your child drinks lots and nappy is on too long). I would rather that than their skin covered in chemicals in a warm damp environment. I used Moltex Oko on both of my children (still using them on my daughter!) and found them brilliant. No leaks, no nappy rash (even though my daughter suffers from Eczema)and the nappy doesn't stink of chemicals when it is wet. They are definitely kinder to the skin and the fact that they can biodegrade in a worm composter means they are much better for the environment too. What a brilliant way to salve your conscience - as if there wasn't enough pressure on you when you've just had a baby! These nappies are great, and don't come with that awful chemical smell you get with the "big" brands like Huggies and Pampers. They are extremely good as an overnight nappy, as they're super-absorbent. The pale beige colour is a little off-putting in a world that's generally bleached white, but it doesn't take long to get used to it!
