"Superb, I have a sparkling home.…"
27-Jan-2013
The mop is incredibly easy to put together, straightforward instructions are included but weren't needed. The quick start guide is handy for at-a-glance instructions.
I found the RRP £149.99 quite expensive before I used the product, by the end I do think it's probably worth the money.
The mop itself is slimline, light but very sturdy and stands upright so is very easy to store. It comes with a mat to rest it on to prevent the floor from becoming wet.
We used it on various floor types, laminate, lino, carpet and tiled. The water heated up very quickly. The autoselect button was great and allowed for effortless cleaning from surface to surface. The carpet glider was easy to attach and remove.
I have two young children and a cat who can cause quite a mess therefore as well as sweeping/hoovering daily we generally clean using a mop and bucket at least once per week.
I was horrified, yet weirdly satisfied to see the amount of dirt the steam mop removed.
I suffer with allergies which can be exacerbated by household dust so can only feel that these will be relieved somewhat, judging by the dirt the mop removed.
The hand held unit is brilliant and we used it for the tiling in both the kitchen and bathroom, the grouting came up like new, as did the shower screen.
The various nozzles were simple to attach and detach. The burst of steam is useful for more stubborn areas of dirt. It just wipes away. It's better than any spray or cleaner I've ever used, and is practically instantaneous.
The nozzles are so small they can be stored discreetly in the bathroom ready for next use rather than having to constantly find the right one for the right room.
We even used it on an old stain on our fabric sofa, a kind of what the hell really as nothing else had removed it, and it's made a real difference.
It's really easy to transport from room to room and cleans effortlessly, the handheld unit is a great addition and I keep finding areas that I want to give a blast to.
I have recommended it to others and can't believe I've lived without one for so long. I've read about them being cited as a 'must have' on Mumsnet and I have to say I'm a convert.
Thank you for picking me to try this out, I've enjoyed trialling this product immensely, anything that makes cleaning easier has huge plus points from me.

"Sturdy, effective, good quality, versatile…"
24-Jan-2013
I was lucky enough to receive the 2 in 1 steam mop to review. It's a great product. I put it together without even looking at the instructions as it was very straightforward and instinctive to use.
My first challenge was the stone/terracotta tile kitchen floor, which has seen better days. It came up beautifully although I was rather horrified at the grime that appeared on the mop. I liked the fact that the unit stood up on its own and didn't need to lean against something (makes storage easier too).
Next I detached the hand held unit from the mop, and attacked the grout in between the tiles. I used the stiff brush for this challenge. It is no exaggeration that the bits of grout that I cleaned look like the tiles have been newly laid.
Finally I went round the edges of the room to 'steam' out all the grime that accumulates in the corners (I'm not painting a great picture of my domestic skills, here!). It's extremely satisfying to steam and simply wipe away muddy water leaving perfectly clean surfaces.
Overall, I'm extremely pleased with this product. Having borrowed my mother's steam cleaner I was keen to get one for myself, but this model is far better than the one I tried at her's. It feels sturdy and of good quality. Definitely a 'top of the range' choice. There are not too many attachments, and they are easy to use and not too bulky to store.
All in all, I'm extremely pleased with it and can see it getting a lot of use: weekly on the hard floors, definitely. But I think it will really come into its own for spring/deep cleaning.

"Well thought out and easy to use…"
16-Jan-2013
Like the poster above, I feel that £149.99 is a bit out of my price range, but I was lucky enough to be picked to review this product.
It is easy to put together(didn't need the instructions, although these are included) and looks good when assembled.
I have only had a chance to use it once so far (expecting a second child any day, so wanted to get a review in), but was impressed. I have previously used a Lakeland steam mop and I would say that the B&D is probably not that much more effective, but does have features that make it stand out from my previous model:
- the water chamber can be detached for filling and simply slots onto the handle. Very useful when heavily pregnant and not a fan of bending down!
- it comes with a carpet glider. I gave this a quick try (but was short of time so not a proper go over) and it did seem to refresh the carpet. Useful when you have a toddler who delights in weeing on the carpet whenever he has a chance!
- the swivel head on the actual mop makes it very easy to get underneath low surfaces.
- you can select the type of floor you are cleaning (eg wood or tile) and it adjusts the mop as necessary.
- It has an extra 'steam boost' button for when you want an extra blast.
- it comes with a mat to rest the mop on when not in use, meaning there are no damp patches left on the floor.
We also have a cat that uses an indoor litter tray, so that area needs regular cleaning. I am much happier using a steam mop on it than a conventional bucket and mop, where I'd be spreading the dirty water back around.
The steam dries pretty quickly, so our toddler can come back in the kitchen pretty much immediately after cleaning.
The only downside is that it doesn't exactly glide along the floor - I would say it is a two handed push job. But maybe this will get easier when it has been used more often.
Overall, very impressed.

"intuitive + well made…"
16-Jan-2013
Although expensive (RRP £149.99) + probably over my budget I felt it was very well made, light weight, fun to use and did the job well. I loved how easy it was to set up + use, it cleaned my laminate very well + my vinyl kitchen floor , even really stubborn dried on food + came with plenty of attachments (colour coded) to steam clean different areas. The water resevoire was just the right size it only needed filling up twice to do the whole of my downstairs which is a large area + my rugs. I'm very happy with it.
