"Very versatile but be careful on the hob…"
Bought this because it went on the hob so I could brown meat. It does warn to use a low heat and I thought I was but one day when I lifted the pot the base had come away very neatly! I took it back to Robert Dyas and got another one. I must admit I've been a bit wary about hob use since. I've used it mostly for just two people and if you fill it to the point where it starts to bulge out it is plenty for two. It would definitely feed 6 if you filled it with mostly meat and supplemented with veg and rice/potatoes etc.
I like the fact that it's a good looking pot that can go on the table. The only downsides are a lack of timer (timers are rare in slow cookers though) and I think it might run a little hot. A working day is a bit long to cook even on low. It might be cooler if you put more in it though.Read moreLess

"Easy To Use! Fab Slow Cooker…"
Well, you know when crock-pot becomes interchangeable with slow cooker that they have done something right and in my opinion you cannot go wrong with this slow cooker.
It is so simple to use - in fact I'm not really sure how you could mess it up. There are only 3 settings - low, high and warm. I almost always use low as I tend to be turning it on for 8 hours or more at a time.
It is also multi purpose as you can use it on the hob (gas) or in the oven. I also put mine straight in the fridge (after it cooled) the other day as it had leftovers inside. It is pretty big as well - I think the box claims it will feed 4-5 but I think most likely you'll get 6-8 portions out of this slow cooker depending on what you are cooking of course.
I would make sure when you clean it to let the inside dry out COMPLETELY before replacing the lid otherwise you are likely to find some mould on the inside. I always leave my lid slightly off centre so that air can circulate and I don't have that problem (anymore!)
This is actually my second of these products as I did break the bowl on the first. It is ceramic so you need to be careful - if you drop it that is it! But I had enjoyed it so much and found it to be of such high quality that I purchased another one the same to replace it. It looks so fab as well I'd have no problem putting the ceramic bowl straight on the table for guests to serve themselves from.
One of my favourite & super easy recipes is to just put a few chicken breasts in with a jar of salsa (you can add extra chilis, onions, whatever if you fancy it) and just turn it on low for about 4 hours. The chicken just shreds apart & makes great taco filling. Just sprinkle a bit of cheese & a dollop of sour cream inside a tortilla!
We also bought a wall plug timer - so you plug the timer in the wall socket and then plug the slow cooker into the timer. This way you can set the crock pot to come on at a certain time. Perfect for the dishes such as above that only take 4 hours or so.
I hope my review has been helpful and everyone enjoys many slow cooked dinners!Read moreLess

"Friends in the US we visited had one of these…"
Friends in the US we visited had one of these and cooked 80% of their meals with it - we were so impressed, we got one too. It has been a great buy.
The ceramic 'pot' can go directly on the hob - gas and electric, so there is no need for extra pans. It has various settings and is very versatile. Quick prep before going to bed, 10 mins in the morning to start is all off (and that's if your doing any 'on hob' stuff - if not, you literally throw the ingredients in - seconds...), choose your setting, come home to an inviting aroma of a meal that is ready to serve the minute you get home.
I don't use it as often as I'd like but when I do, I'm always determined to use it more often.Read moreLess
