"We love the variety! Don't bother boiling the kettle...…"
13-May-2013
We have had the T40 for about a month now. It's our new favourite toy. DH is a coffee addict, I am a coffee snob [blush] and hate instant.
The T-disks variety pack that we chose with our £20 voucher(it comes with the machine) is brilliant, and we have chocolate, Costa latte, Americano, Macchiato and Earl Grey (and several more...) T-Disks a tad pricey at full RRP, but being, ermm, economically minded, they are regularly on offer at Sainsbury, Tesco and Amazon. I got the machine for half price too btw ;-) and if you're not in a huge hurry to buy immediately then these offers come around a couple of times a year.
The machine needs minimal cleaning and maintenance and the speed at which it produces delicious drinks is impressive. It comes with a cleaning disk which, like everything else, is easy to operate. The T40 has several features that the very basic model, T20, doesn't have, which is why we chose it. Perfect on price and performance, and a very affordable treat.Read moreLessMumsnetter MrsShrek3

"Buy it with a milk frother for larger fresher cups!…"
19-Jan-2013
The tassimo has a few highlights for me:
Lovely large range of T-discs with tea and hot chocolate as an addition to coffee across multiple brands.
Can buy some of the range in the supermarket.
Easy to use (my daughters can use it before school)
Quick
Easy to clean
But it has a few downfalls:
You only get half a cup of coffee with most pods (not all)
With some coffees you need two Tdiscs. A milk one and a coffee one. I dont like the milk discs and it works out expensive.
I decided that I would buy my tassimo alongside a hostess milk frother to overcome the cup size and milk disc issue. Thats great and takes about the same amount of time as making a coffee in the tassimo so I don't waste time.
It means I can have a nice choice of t-discs and grab them in the supermarket when I'm short but Im not compromising on cupsize or milk quality.
So in short if you are thinking about a tassimo its perfect with the milk frother addition but I wouldnt be too happy without.Read moreLessMumsnetter OhSoVintage

"Generates unrecyclable rubbish.…"
14-Nov-2012
Personally I can't bear these machines because of all the rubbish they generate. Lots of fiddley little packets and you can only buy the right kind of packet. Honestly, we are trying to cut down on landfill use and people take 'easy peasey, can't be a***ed" over consideration of what that means down the line. Learn how to do it properly and put the grounds & filters into the food waste recyle.

This is a fantastic coffee maker. It takes under 2 minutes to warm up, and it's really easy to use - just lift the silver lid to insert a Nespresso coffee capsule, push the lid down and turn it on!
The variety of coffee available from Nespresso is excellent, making it great for a coffee-snob! It's rich and tasty, and your cup will come with a delicious foam creme on top.
Cleaning is easy - you just pull the water bottle and tray out and they're dishwasher safe. It is a very durable machine; mine's been used every single day for 3 years now!
The only two downsides are that the coffee is hot, but not boiling -- great if you like it black, but if you want it particularly milky it can pay to microwave your milk first. The other downside is the height of the coffee nozzle - I had to buy new coffee cups to fit under it, whereas some of the other Nespresso machines have adjustable heights.
In conclusion, while it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some of the other Nespresso machines on the market, it doesn't have the huge pricetag either. A good value machine that brews a great cup of coffee!Read moreLessMumsnetter Sn0wGoose

Great tasting coffee available at the touch of a button. It is VERY easy to use and the family enjoy the odd hot chocolate, but will also produce a decent expresso for Dad! The only niggle is the size of drinks, not too generous.

Perfect for a quick fix of coffee or chocolate. The machine is easy to use (my nine year old has mastered it). A good selection of coffees, from expresso to latte but also chocolate. Some of the mixes are a little sweet for my taste so I tend to add milk of my own instead of using the sachets provided. The machine is attractive and easy to clean. Not a replacement for the local coffee shop but good for a stay at home treat and to fend off an afternoon slump!
