"My two children, aged 3 & 5 absolutely love Twin…"
07-May-2011
My two children, aged 3 & 5 absolutely love Twin Lakes. It's not 'grand' like other much more expensive theme parks, but the rides are perfect for younger children. There's loads to do inside if it's raining. The food isn't great, as other reviewers have mentioned, but there are picnic tables for you to eat your own sandwiches etc. An excellent day out!

Really fun day out! Take your own food, though as it is a little ropey! :D Best for younger kids, but there are a couple of rides for older children.

"I took my son here for his birthday party last…"
24-Aug-2010
I took my son here for his birthday party last week, we had a brilliant day out. There were 10 8-9 year old boys, some toddlers and the parents. We found it very easy on entering the park, the receptionist was very efficient and welcoming. The boys were very well looked after, and the food was delicious. They had a healthy and vegetarian option for myself and some of the other parents which we thought was fantastic. We managed to do most of the park, the boys spent a good two hours in the HUGE indoor play area, whilst grandma and pops got lost in the meerkat maze!! We found it very easy to navigate using the park maps. They also loved the buffalo ride down in the usa adventure area. We thought the layout is really well done as we could keep our eyes on all of the children, letting them have their freedom, but restricting them to a "zone". Having toddlers with us, we thought that it would be difficult to entertain everyone, but there are toddler soft play areas next to all the indoor play equipment, so it was easy to be in control of the whole troop. We visited the animal farm which was interesting and educational. The children loved the new baby meerkats, especially stumpey-mo (he has a tiny tail) The boys were exhausted by the evening, and all begged to go back for there own birthdays, all in all a fantastic day out!!

I really don't get why people rave about this place. The "ice skating rink" is a small area of plastic that is virtually impossible to skate on. The indoor stuff is dirty, cheap and tacky. The outdoor stuff is OK but there are plenty of other places I could go to find decent playgrounds / assault courses for cheaper or free. The food is horrible. Wouldn't waste my money on it again.

We go to Twin Lakes once or twice a year with 4 boys ranging from 3 years to 8 years and always have a great time. There is a great range of rides and if a ride/activity is only suitable for the older children then there is a always another activity close by for the younger ones. Lots of picnic tables for you to eat your own food at including a covered indoor area which helps if trying to keep the costs down.

This is a lovely smaller theme park which is ideal for all the family. Its near to Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, so it covers quite a large area.
They have a permanent ice skating rink, something no other theme park in our country has, so Im told. Our children loved all the animals, its safe to touch them and they seem to like the noise, laughter and chatter of the children. You know your children are safe here. There's lots of attractions for all age groups from roller coasters to pirate ships.
It was free to park the car and onlyRead moreLessMumsnetter deeblythe

Twinlakes is more than just a theme park, there's a little farm and falconary as well. good for all weathers, with inside play areas for all ages from babies/toddlers up to teenagers. plenty of soft play areas for the little ones to gain experience of playing with others their own age. Outside plenty of rides for all ages as well. alot of rides are for over 92cm children only which my 3 year old has just reached so she can now go on mini rollercoaster, waterboats etc . (the under 92cm don't have to pay admission fee)
plenty of places for buying food or the are lots of places inside and out (covered areas as well outside) for picnics.
for a good fun day out try Twinlakes, Melton Mowbray,Leics. thumbs up!Read moreLessMumsnetter bubbster
