"I had 2 x 6 year olds and a 2"
28-Oct-2011
I had 2 x 6 year olds and a 2 year old. Very little the 2yr old could go on at all and not much that the 6 year olds (under 1.3m) could go on unaccompanied (since I had to look after 2 yr old). With similarly aged children, you definitely need 2 adults.
As other reviews have said, extremely expensive for what it is even with 25% off (£15.95 per person, including children). Food was absolutely dreadful and overpriced (£6.50 for a hot dog and chips or similar) but there are lots of picnic tables if you take your own food.
We went in October half term so it was fairly quiet and we only had to queue for one or two ride. Lovely setting but not somewhere I'd hurry back to.Read moreLessMumsnetter Mandy21

We took our 2 and 4 year old and had a great time. There was more to do with the 4 year old as our 2 year old was too small for some of the rides. Look out for vouchers as it is very expensive at full price. I'd recommend the American Diner to eat.

They've spent a lot of money on improvements in the last couple of years, so I was pleasantly surprised when we visited in September. Stunned that the food was relatively healthy and relatively good value, in theme park terms.

"I took my 2 and a half year old this"
03-Aug-2011
I took my 2 and a half year old this weekend. He had a fantastic time! I was worried there might not be a great deal for the very little ones to do, but there were plenty of rides that were suitable for him. I'm sure this isn't as sophisticated as other theme parks, but it is set in beautiful surroundings and we hardly had to queue at all, despite it being a sunny Saturday in July! I think somewhere like this is far preferable than one of the very big theme parks, and better value for money too, particularly if you pay in advance on the internet rather than turning up on the day. Maybe I'm biased about Lightwater Valley, as I have very happy memories of going there as a child, but we all had a lovely day and I would highly recommend it!

"I went this week with my son (5) and a"
07-Aug-2009
I went this week with my son (5) and a friend and her son (also 5) and we had a great time. The theme park is set in lovely countryside and at one point we were watching the boys on a ride and it was lovely and peaceful and we couldn't see any other rides - you wouldn't have thought we were in a theme park.
Its not as brash or up to date as other theme parks but for small children its fab. We only queued for one ride, the grand prix type cars, for about 15 minutes. The rest of the rides we just got on practically straight away.
We took a packed lunch so I can't comment on the food but there were plenty of picnic benches scattered around.
The boys had a really great time - although my son has never been to a theme park before so he has nothing to compare it to but he is still talking about the rides today and how much fun it was.Read moreLessMumsnetter Josie123

"We went as 3 mums with 4 children aged 2-4"
27-Jun-2009
We went as 3 mums with 4 children aged 2-4 and had a great time. There were enough rides that toddlers could go on, either with you as well or on their own and they loved them all. The kids really enjoyed the farm and the more exotic animals - tigers / giraffes etc. The park was clean and well kept with lots of picnic spots and good paths for pushchairs. The food looked pretty poor but we took our own picnic and found a quiet shady spot. We went on a weekday and there were no queues so we could go on rides as many times as we liked so worked out really good value for money as we didn't have to pay for the kids. Staff were generally friendly and all in all a great day out that we still talk about. I would recommend it for children 2+.

"I thought this theme park was dated and dismal. There"
30-Apr-2009
I thought this theme park was dated and dismal. There were no decent places to eat (ie. they were dirty and the food was disgusting), I struggled to find something to feed my children. The staff were miserable and for what it was, it was too expensive. Very disappointed :(

"We love this park as its so pretty as well"
20-Mar-2009
We love this park as its so pretty as well as being fun. Theres plenty for all ages from the gentle rides for tots up to proper white knuckle rides like the Ultimate for the older kids (and brave parents)
The only downside is there is so much walking, the rides are spread out in beautiful parkland but wear comfortable shoes and you'll be fine. Theres good paths for buggies and due to the size it never seems too busy and manic.
Fodd is expensive - as usual but theres loads of picnic spots and spave for a blanket on the grass - which I think the kids enjoy more anyway.
Definitely worth a visit!Read moreLessMumsnetter michellew1
