"When you arrive, if you haven't booked your tickets in…"
01-May-2011
When you arrive, if you haven't booked your tickets in advance, you queue to get tickets - we arrived at around 11am in school holidays and you're given a specific time of entry into the "exhibition" - ours wasn't until 1.10pm so we had an early lunch, which was fine - panninis, etc. Bit disappointed that the only yoghurts were low fat, low cal - not ideal for babies!
Anyway, when we'd finished lunch we wandered into the shop, in the mood for buying but nothing tempted us. So, off we went into the exhibition - I found this utterly disappointing - you walk from one room which is a theatre where you sit down and see a film about cadburys history, into another theatre where you sit down and see a film about chocolate production, then you walk down corridors and see chocolate in production and get so-called 'freebies' on the way. Then there is a gentle ride which the babies really enjoyed. And that is pretty much it. There are yet more experiences of a similar nature in other locations on the site - film and free molten chocolate.
The best thing about it was the playground - the children really enjoyed that.
We all agreed that it was a once in a lifetime experience, in that we had no plans on returning.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

Brilliant place to take children for an ultimate treat. Love the part where you can design your own chocolate bar and also when you get to taste fresh warm chocolate.

We had quite a good afternoon, although we thought we would actually see the factory working, but not so. Not a bad tour describing the history of choc & Cadbury, but as it went on seemed wholley a monumental PR excercise. The kids enjoyed it,but we waited ages in a queue for the cadabra ride which is really suited to the under 6s, my kids not best pleased about that.

The best bits for the children were the Cadabra ride, the interactive area (particularly jumping on the images of chocoaltes to unwrap them) and watching the chocolate whizz the machines, get wrapped and boxed in the factory.
Some of the history talks were a bit too long for the younger ones.
Lots of free chocolate given out.
Good outdoor play area to "run-off" the effects of the chocolate before getting in the car to go home again!!Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

A really nice day out as it's a bit different from your usual theme park. Lots of fun for children of all ages.

The kids loved it, especially the Cadabra ride & the interactive displays. I savoured the smell of chocolate everywhere. The packaging area isn't always open but we've always been lucky. Plus you get chocolate in a few places like the demonstration area, where I think you're supposed to let the sample they give you harden before eating (we never last that long). You can make reservations on their website/telephone line. Handy during peak times.

Took ds1, 4, and ds2, 1, last Oct, had a fab time. Great outdoor play areas, very child-friendly indoor exhibitions, the ride takes a lot of queueing up for but there was something to surreal about watching singing dancing cocoa beans it made it all worth it. A good time was had by all. And we got lots of chocolate. Bring a packed lunch though, the food area was insanely busy and not cheap/great quality.

Children like it because its all about Cadbury's chocolate. Tells you the history of the chocolate, shows you around the factory with demonstrations, has a ride (similar to Disney's "It's a Small World"),interactive games, shop, factory outlet. Tries to be educational but apart from the History of Bournville Village, isn't.
