"Blackgang Chine is the sister attraction to Robin Hill Adventure"
20-Aug-2010
Blackgang Chine is the sister attraction to Robin Hill Adventure Park and Gardens and there is an offer which offers reduced admission if visiting both attractions.
The attraction itself is situated right on the cliff edge and in certain places you can see where parts of the site have slipped down the cliff - these are fenced off I hasten to add!
Set against the backdrop of the sea it makes for some stunning scenery on a good day.
In my opinion this attraction has tried to put everything together which it thinks would appeal to children. This has resulted in lots of things they want to do but is at the expense of an identity.
There is a fairytale castle, a talking bench where you can converse with the gnomes, a crooked house to walk round, a bug trail and numerous other things our children enjoyed. There is also a theme park side of the attraction (it is logically separated into two parts) where you can find a roller coaster and log flume.
Food is generally of a fast food nature, but as a one off it is acceptable.
There is just one large note of caution I will issue. When we went there was torrential rain in the afternoon. There were a couple of cafes / restaurants which filled up very quickly. We tried to take cover in the fairytale castle but it leaked! The paths - which are very up and down and not suitable for wheelchair users or the very elderly - then flooded as there was nowhere for the rain water to run away. We got soaked and our clothes were literally dripping - we had to go home.
There is free re-entry to the attraction, I believe it is up to 4 times within a week.
Overall I would recommend you go on a dry day for the children. There isn't a huge amount for parents to do, but that's often what a theme park is like!Read moreLessMumsnetter Hooitt
