"A wonderful day out!"
22-May-2012
A really wonderful, relaxing day out in the countryside - but not too far from London. The animals appear well looked after and content in clean, spacious enclosures. Friendly and helpful staff. It is extremely useful being able to take your car round with you (although you do pay extra for this benefit). I would thoroughly recommend a day out at this zoo.

"We have been to this zoo a number of times"
13-Oct-2011
We have been to this zoo a number of times and always had a great time. It's better in summer when you can have a picnic on the grass. There are animal performances there as well eg.seals and you can observe animal feeding which can be great fun ( penguins lunch time at 2;30). I would recommend getting an annual membership though as it gives you an opportunity to visit the zoo free for a year + you get free car park which is normally 4GBP + 10% discount for drinks and food. Every little helps.

"I took my toddler to Whipsnade for his 2nd birthday"
28-Feb-2011
I took my toddler to Whipsnade for his 2nd birthday and it was one of the best zoos I have ever been to. I really liked the aspect that you can drive in your own car around most of it if you like (as it was a rainy day.) A really good selection of animals, food better than average for these types of places, and the park as a whole was very clean and well maintained.
I will be definitely be returning this spring as my little boy had a great day, as did all of us. I highly recommend the zoo train, it is only a few pounds and you get to see magical parts of the zoo which you otherwise would miss.

Great zoo - lots too see - lots & lots of walking.
Great playpark too which is always important.
Can use tesco vouchers for entrance which turns it into a bargain day outRead moreLessMumsnetter loonyrationalist

"Wonderful setting - great views from the 'Lookout Cafe'. If"
07-Jul-2010
Wonderful setting - great views from the 'Lookout Cafe'. If you are local worth getting an annual pass as it is a big place and lots to see - so great to pop in an do just a bit at a time. Loads for little ones to do as well as seeing the animals. The steam train is always a hit with my two - just watching it is fun for them!

"My daughter absolutely loves Whipsnade Zoo. Great for the little"
12-Aug-2009
My daughter absolutely loves Whipsnade Zoo. Great for the little ones as you can take the car in and drive around to all the animals. Perfect too for when the weather is not so good as you can jump in and out of the car. My little girl loves the penguins and also the free sea lion show. There is a bus that also takes you around the zoo if you do not have a car.
Also for the children there is a train to have a ride on (although this is extra and quite expensive), children's play area, children's zoo and much more. A great day out!
My only advice is to take a picnic as the restaurants are quite expensive.
If you live local it really pays to get an annual pass and children under 3 are free!!Read moreLessMumsnetter sasha73

"Whipsnade is a large open parkland set in Bedfordshire. It"
10-Aug-2009
Whipsnade is a large open parkland set in Bedfordshire. It is a great day out for the family with plenty to keep everyone occupied. The arrival of the new baby elephant should be well worth a visit. They have also developed a trail called the Big 5 and you can vote on line for your favourite animal. Don't forget to pick up your information pack at the entrance.
You have the option to take your car into the grounds of the park or you can park in the car park across the road from the entrance.Read moreLessMumsnetter Nyliram
