"I have 15 month old twin girls and live in"
12-Aug-2010
I have 15 month old twin girls and live in Cardiff. We found Amelia Trust around 3 weeks ago after my mum suggested it as a cheaper alternative for a day out. What a find!!!! It's a Methodist chariety based in the Vale. ( up the hill past M&S Culverhouse Cross and turn left after the Cottrill Park golf course )
There's a cafe run by volunteers, serving basic home fair, mugs of tea and coffe etc and free range produce. It's SO cheap, making it a must to have a coffee and a cake.
There no parking fee, no entry fee, no time limits and it's open dawn till dusk. Lots of green space, fresh air and a safe enviroment.
We were so taken with it we started a Amelia Trust Farm Friends page on Facebook for everyone to track their adventures. It's lovely! We noticed a notice advertising adopt an animal so we now have 2 pigs. It was v cheap to adopt an animal, makes it fun for the kids and helps the running costs so I can happily visit 24/7. Winner!
I have visited several times now on my own and it's a very enjoyable experience. Lots of good clean fun. Top tip, take a picnic there's lots of benches around the farm.Read moreLessMumsnetter sazzleevans

"This is a lovely relaxed place to take your little"
06-Aug-2010
This is a lovely relaxed place to take your little ones on a sunny day. There is no charge for entry but donations are greatfully received and also greatly deserved.
You can see many famryard animals and also learn lots about animal husbandry in a beautiful setting in the welsh countryside
We really enjoyed it!Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

"A wonderful facility, run and funded by a Christian charity,"
28-Jul-2010
A wonderful facility, run and funded by a Christian charity, they charge nothing at all for entry, and the home made cakes etc in the cafe are laughably cheap, and very delicious.
Today we saw goats, sheep, donkey, pigs, geese, ducks, rabbits, guinea pigs, hens, guineafowl. In the past there have been cows too. Go in the spring an dthere are lots of baby animals to coo over too.
Plants and organic veg grown on site were for sale-very reasonable prices-and there were adverts for organic meat and eggs, though none for sale today.
The gardens have been planted beautifully, and there are lots of places to sit and have a picnic, and even BBQs set up for you to use, free of charge.
The play area is always busy, but has plenty of sturdy wholesome wooden apparatus, swings and a very fast slide.
A great half day out on a sunny day, and a good fresh-airy half hour in the winter.Read moreLessMumsnetter PlumSykes
