"Went here a couple of years ago and was not"
19-Jul-2011
Went here a couple of years ago and was not impressed with the animal husbandry shown. The 'talk' was also completely aimed at the wrong level for the kids and there is a lot of Christian beliefs presented as fact.

"The indoor play area is good (though not always very"
02-Dec-2010
The indoor play area is good (though not always very well maintained), and children love the indoor hay barn.
There is a growing selection of animals to see, but I will not be going here again as I am not happy with the zoo's attitude to animal welfare. There has been considerable controversy about the zoo's links with circuses, and plans to build an elephant enclosure, against the advice of animal welfare organisations and other zoos.
Also, the owner is a fundamentalist Christian, and the daily animal show and talk pushes a creationist view, and displays around the zoo argue against evolution.Read moreLessMumsnetter exexpat

"Possibly the best day out in the UK, ever. What"
01-Jul-2010
Possibly the best day out in the UK, ever.
What an absolutely amazing place, loads of animals and birds, camels, monkeys, lions, tigers, giraffes, play barns and outside play areas everywhere. DS is 2, and I think this would be the perfect place for up to the end of primary, about 11.
We went on a coach trip, got there at 10.30, should have left at 1.30, we were enjoying ourselves so much, I rang DH and he came to get us at 5.00 after work.
Opening hours 10.30 - 5.00 pm
This really was a fantastic place, the adults food was good, just under £5 for a lovely jacket spud, with salad, didn't think much of the kids food, loads of picnic areas though, indoor and outdoor.
A place we will def be going, again and again and again.
Group prices are really good, I thought it was pricey until we got there, is worth every single penny.Read moreLessMumsnetter mjinhiding
