"My family and I adore Middle Farm. The open farm"
15-Dec-2011
My family and I adore Middle Farm. The open farm is a proper open farm, not a load of playgrounds with a few animals scattered about as is the way other such open farms.
It is a bit rough and ready, but that adds to the ambience and you never forget that you are at a real working farm.
I've always found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, always willing to answer any questions you might have about the animals that they clearly adore.
Our favourite thing is the 2pm sheep walking where you can get up close and personal with the farm's exceptionally friendly sheep!
For £4 per person, it's excellent value for money, although I recommend taking a picnic, food in the restaurant is a little pricey - £4 to get to see all the animals then about £5 to buy a bagette is ridiculous! Also very little in the way of hot food for children.Read moreLessMumsnetter Bizzy1

"Basic, backward, boring and blatantly rude staff! Went here at"
07-Nov-2011
Basic, backward, boring and blatantly rude staff! Went here at the weekend and was so very disappointed as there is virtually nothing to do for the £4 per person entry fee (including for kids over 2yrs). Arrived at midday and there was no feeding, patting, touching or anything similar on offer for about another 3 hours! Walked around and had seen everything in about 20mins! Then went to the cider house and found the owner, who was quite simply rude, unhelpful and arrogant. Would not recommend this place to anyone

"Can't believe there are two glowing reviews of this place"

Can't believe there are two glowing reviews of this place and no-one as mentioned the fact that there are also two hundred and fifty different types of cider and perry and you can try them all! <Tipsy Mum Emoticon>
Try and get down to Middle Farm for apple day - a surreal festival celebrating the apple harvest with life music, hog roasts and the world famous still-only-fifty-pence-an-entry Mousetown.Read moreLessMumsnetter BustyDeLaGhetto

"Lovely farm with lots for small children to do. There"
29-Jul-2010
Lovely farm with lots for small children to do. There are chickens of all breeds, lots of rabbits & guinea pigs (no petting though for the animals sake), some goats and all sorts of other farm animals.
It's easy to get around the vast majority of the farm with a pram but the milking parlour isn't pram accessible.
The is a great little toy shop in the entrance selling more traditional types of toys and the farm shop has a bakery, butchers, deli, cheese counter and green grocery areas with pretty reasonable prices.Read moreLessMumsnetter TruthSweet

"Brilliant. At around 3.00 pm you can watch the cows"
26-Jun-2009
Brilliant. At around 3.00 pm you can watch the cows being milked. Very nice cafe with homemade cakes. Clean, well looked after playground and haybarn. A lovely walk on the nature trail and a mixture of animals to look at. Always a relaxing time. Just down the road a very nice pub called the Barley Mow which has a brilliant adventure playground outside.
