"They even have snow leopards!…"
I went to the zoo as part of a package at Marwell Hotel. I was invited by Marwell Hotel to review their zoofari getaway package which included a free family ticket to the zoo.
I took my DP who likes to think of himself as a bit of an animal obsessive. He's a member of London Zoo and was quite excited to find there's a few species of animals at Marwell that he's never seen before. The main one being the snow leopard, and the one I was most excited about was seeing the Capybara because it looks like a massive guinea pig.
I really like the zoo because it has a nice English country garden feel to it - they don't try to recreate the habitats that the animals would have lived in out in the wild. So it's quite interesting to see a lion lying next to a bunch of daffodils.
The animals have so much more space than I've ever seen at any other zoo and it really feels like you could spend a full day there as there's no rush to get round everything. We happened to go on one of the sunniest days of the year, and it was a perfect way to spend the day.Read moreLess
"Top quality animal park…"
Been here 3 times whilst staying in the New Forest. Lovely and spacious for humans and animals. Just beware that in places it can be a climb but there is a tractor that can take you up the worse bits. Parents have said to me that they didn't realise there were other parts to see so make sure you take a look at the map first so you know and plan your route as it is a journey between animals if you don't do them in sequence. The cafe overlooking the giraffes is fab. It is an expensive day out so unless you live local and have an annual pass I would make this a special outing. Can't wait to go back with my four year old.Read moreLess

Massive place, loads to do. Put aside a whole day as we were there for about 7 hours and still hadn't seen all of it. There's a nice little train ride (short but sweet) that goes round the park which is great for any young train fanatics.
Would definitely go back again and although pricey it seems most zoos are nowadays. We thought it was worth the entrance fee.
Agree about the giraffe enclosure, you can get up very close and personal with them.Read moreLess

A wildlife park rather than a zoo, big enclosures etc. and a really good day out (not much shelter on rainy days though). Play parks are great and usefully spaced throughout the park. Giraffes are big favourite and kids also love penguins and pygmy hippos.Read moreLess

"A really lovely zoo, loads of green space and animals…"
A really lovely zoo, loads of green space and animals kept in big fields and huge pens. Even when it's busy there is so much space that you don't feel crowded. Easy and free to park a short walk from the gates, and two trains run round the grounds so you can hop on and off when you feel tired. A few very nice cafes and restaurants and lovely play areas for the children too. Toilets always very clean too!Read moreLess
