"We love Drusillas. We try to avoid school holidays as"
23-Oct-2011
We love Drusillas. We try to avoid school holidays as it can get very busy especially in the play areas. On a hot day take swim stuff and towels for the kids as they have a paddling pool / water play area. It is a whole day out and there's enough to keep you busy all day. We save our Tesco vouchers to use as otherwise it's around £50 per family.

"Very well thought out zoo with lots of side attractions"
27-Sep-2010
Very well thought out zoo with lots of side attractions and buttons to press. The zoo area has well looked after animals with lots of child friendly information. We were very impressed with the cow model that you can actually milk.

"Had a lovely time at Drusillas with the family recently."
07-Jul-2010
Had a lovely time at Drusillas with the family recently. A nice array of animals to see and friendly staff.
On the down side - the front entrence is very congested. After you pay to get in there are animals on view straight away. So no sooner have you got in then everything is at a standstill while people view the animals. It would be better to have a free area where people can decide which direction they want to go - rather than getting stuck in a bottle-neck.
My biggest issue was everyone over the age of 2 (yes 2) gets charged adult price. Perhaps everyone over the age of 11, they could even get away with 6 - but 2 seems a bit of a con to me.Read moreLessMumsnetter Hai1988

"I love this place, it's a perfect day out for"
27-Apr-2010
I love this place, it's a perfect day out for young children, parents and even grandparents. There are lots of animals, an adventure playground outside if it's sunny, a large soft play inside in case it rains, everything is set out on a path so that little legs don't get too tired, there are also interactive exhibits (i.e. lots of buttons to press) if your kids don't really get excited about animals yet and tasty cheap food (toasties for £2.50 or burgers and chips for £4.50. I wish I lived nearer, I'd get an annaul pass and be there all the time.
I also think it's good value for money (esp if you use your tesco vouchers) but I am comparing it to london attractions.Read moreLessMumsnetter MagicNappySack

"great little zoo. my kids noe 9 & 10, still"
01-Sep-2009
great little zoo. my kids noe 9 & 10, still enjoy it!good selection of small to mid size animals. trail stuff to keep busy ,liked the new lemur enclosure. just enough walking before you get to the play area which is now very big. it's almost too successful now. my kids disappointed with train now, it's definitely slower, don't bother queuing if your kids are older than 7. it's a good full day. (a picnic is a good idea if you don't mind carrying it), it takes quite a while to reach the food areas, & lots of kids seem to lose it well before then.

"Drusillas is a great day out for all the family,"
08-Aug-2009
Drusillas is a great day out for all the family, we all loved the zoo side with the added extra of a large adventure play area for the children. The great news is that you can use your Tesco Vouchers here so it only cost us £15.00 worth of vouchers rather than the full entry price of about £54.00. Would have been excellant value for money even if we had to pay the full price. Don't miss the Lemurs feeding time.
The children are given a passport as they go in, and they have to stamp their book as they see the animals, and do a series of challenges throughout the park(all of which were working unlike other attractions)and at the end they hand it in and get sent a certificate for taking part.
The food was the usual sort of prices, but a good range (even gluten free items are available. There were no queues and it was easy to find a clean table.
They have a railway running round the park, with Thomas the Tank Engine which the kids had great fun riding on having photos taken on. It runs continuously so there were no queues.
There is loads of playgrounds, slides, walkways, swings, banana boats. A must for any family.Read moreLessMumsnetter motormouth

"Fantastic childrens park/zoo suitable for a wide range of ages."
20-Jun-2009
Fantastic childrens park/zoo suitable for a wide range of ages. My daughter is not yet two but enjoyed it - as did we. She especially loved the full size Thomas the Tank train ride! The play park area (suitably arranged for different age groups) made me wish I was a kid again and it has a fab picnic area with paddling pool for toddlers. Lots of interactive bits and 'Mokomo's Jungle Rock' (animatronic singing exhibit)is almost worth the entry fee alone! Entry is not cheap, but I think you get your money's worth. We took our own picnic to keep the cost down so I can't comment on the food (hence the 8)- but the facilities were great.Well worth a visit and if we lived nearer I would get annual membership and visit regularly.
