we love it, although the kids tend to play in the play ground rather than want to look at the animals!Read moreLess

We are fairly local to Battersea Park and it has always been one of Scarlett's favourite days out. If you take a picnic it's a great value day out. The animals are well cared for and seem very happy. The play areas are fantastic for all ages. I would definately recommend it as a day out!Read moreLess

Although I live outside London, I love this place and it's always worth the journey in for the day. It's great for the little ones as there is so much to see and do with the adventure playground, the park and gardens, the little land train that circles the park, the lake with its rowing facilities, BlueBird boats and cafes - and, of course, the lovely Zoo itself, which is family-run.
There are lots of playful animals that the kids always enjoy seeing including lemurs, meerkats and, of course, the monkeys. My daughter loves the Shetland ponies especially.
On a warm day, pack a picnic to enjoy under the shade of the trees by the river. Or take your bikes for a scenic cycle around the pathways (you can also hire bikes at the park to carry up to three children). The area has some striking landmarks, such as the imposing Battersea Power Station and the Battersea Dogs Home.
As the summer evening approaches and the kids have worn themselves out, grown-ups will enjoy relaxing at La Gondola al Parco, the cafe by the lake, which has live music events from 7pm every Tuesday and Friday evenings (weather permitting), with a BBQ and refreshments. Entrance is free.
