"Great entertainment for kids in amazing animal park…"
This was my first trip to Whipsnade Zoo but I’ll definitely be going back. We were invited as part of a press trip to check out their newly launched Hullabazoo adventure play area. It’s a big playground full of climbing frames, swings, bridges, slides and other play paraphernalia. There are two big climbing gyms – one for smaller kids and another version more suited for the older ones. This worked really well for me as I find kids tend to get overexcited and trample over little ones like my 20 month old so it’s a good idea to have them separate. My daughter and her granddad had a great time going up and down the slides, while I silently wondered whether I was too old to go on the zipline.
Although we didn’t investigate the soft play area – which I imagine is very popular when the weather is bad – it’s good to know this is an option too.
It’s a lovely recreational area, but Whipsnade Zoo itself is such a fantastically fun place, I don’t know if the kids’ entertainment area is necessary! Everything is well signposted and easy to find. And even on an unrainy Sunday, it never felt overcrowded. The animals looked healthy and happy and I saw a number of species I’d never heard of before – onagers were a new one for me.
We caught a great show at the sea lion enclosure – which was suitable for both adults and kids with much splashing as well as a bit of environmental education.
We spent most of the day there but even so we didn’t get to see everything. It’s a really fun and educational family day out – highly recommended. It is a bit pricey though so I'd recommend keeping an eye out for special offers, 2for1s etc.Read moreLess
