"The Camel Trail runs form Padstow on the north coast…"
12-Mar-2011
The Camel Trail runs form Padstow on the north coast of Cornwall through Wadebridge to Bodmin then on to Wenfordbridge on Bodmin moor. Originally the route of the mine railway, the gentle incline and wide, well-kept track makes it ideal cycling. We treat it as 3 separate rides, Padstow-Wadebridge, Wadebridge-Bodmin and Bodmin-Wenfordbridge. Bicycle hire along the way and several of the hire companies will come and pick you up if you dont fancy riding back. Stunning countryside varies from riding along the banks of the river Camel to Padstow to the tree-lined tunnel towards Hellandbridge. There are a number of tea rooms along the way and several very good pubs. Avoid the Padstow to Wadebridge section in summer as its a cycling traffic jam and fish and chips at Rick Steins in Padstow will need a bank loan! Overall one of the best cycle routes we have found anywhere and easy riding for young and older alike.
