"Not as good as Matilda but still very enjoyable!…"
Having loved the stage version of Matilda, I was keen to experience the next Roald Dahl adaptation to hit the West End, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. With such ripe material for visual spectaculars, expectations were high, and in this sense the show did not disappoint. The staging of each room in the chocolate factory was brilliant, as was that of the individual children winning their golden tickets - except for Charlie that was. At this point, the whole theatre was on tenterhooks, such was the anticipation with everyone knowing what was about to happen, and it just felt massively anti-climactic. Charlie basically just said 'oh I've won a golden ticket, Uncle Joe look at this.' Was kind of expecting gold to start raining down from the sky or something! But overall very good, even as seen from our cheap as chips seats higher than the chandeliers (no joke).Read moreLess
