"An afternoon of glitz and glamour all the family will love.…"
My family and I recently decided on a 'girls day out' - this meant my mother and I were going to take my daughter to her first proper West End show (that wasn't specifically a 'kids show' like Peppa Pig etc) and, instead of seeing a show like Shrek, we decided on something we might all enjoy; Top Hat.
Last Christmas my daughter was obsessed with Strictly Come Dancing and my mother is also a big fan of the show and a fan of ballroom style dancing, so this was perfect to keep them both entertained.
To my mothers delight, the show stars Tom Chambers who won strictly in 2008 (my daughter can't remember him, but when I told her she was excited anyway) alongside Summer Strallen. The two dance beautifully together, as do the rest of the cast, creating lively and beautiful dances that enchant audiences of all ages. I loved watching Bella tap her feet, wiggle and smile as the show went on! I was very proud!
There were some recognisable songs (mostly for mum, but I knew a few too) such as "Let's Face The Music and Dance" that had the audience members going!
The theatre itself was very nice, and the merchandise was reasonably prices. My only complaint however would be that they don't do booster cushions so my daughter spent quite a bit of time on my lap. Nonetheless everyone came out smiling.
This was a lovely show with a charming and harmless storyline that every generation can connect with. I fully recommend the show for anyone with a child who loves theatre.
