Woodhorn Colliery Museum

Fantastic place just north of Newcastle. Old colliery opened as a museum to mining. Old buildings open to show engines, lift shafts etc with light & sound interaction. Inside The Cutter is a large walk through exhibition of mining through the ages with various interactive areas. Good for kids and adults.
Great outdoor space with various events on at different times.
Art galleries displaying paintings by miners and changing exhibits. Also has the areas archive centre for researching e.g family trees.
Great cafe with very good reasonably priced lunch & snacks.
Free entry but £2.5o parking. Also entrance to the Country park with lake for great walks/ picnics etc.
