A huge hit with my two (3 & 5) - the older one especially loved the kids trail on post-modernists (no, honestly!) which came complete with a little wooden crate full of things to rip, rub and have fun with. And they both really enjoyed interacting with art that didn't just look like pictures. Especially as some of it looks interestingly like poo.
We took a picnic - there aren't loads of places to eat but there are nice sofas overlooking the turbine hall.Read moreLess

Good day even DH enjoyed He really rated the restaurant and exhibits.
Good views of the river. Fab at sun set.
I noticed you could get there by boat. Maybe wait for the summer? We went on one of the days between Christmas and new year which was good we had all got a bit stir crazy even the escalators were fun.
There was a very very large black box, which you walk in and out of.
Bizarre but fun. It was demonstrate what happens when there is no lights etc
