Our Dynamic Earth

This is a great place for children and adults alike. So much fun. It can be REALLY loud in places and when youngest was under 3 it was all a bit too much for him and he ended up in tears each time and we had to leave. I've seen it happen to others too. But now at 4 and 7 it's just perfect.

If you live nearby and can visit more than once the years ticket will cost you around the same as a one day ticket! Can find better value than that.

It's not all looking but not touching - there's loads to properly explore and puzzles and 'touchy' things.

There's also a soft play area at the end (through the shop) which is lots of fun too.

We took our 6 month old and he absolutely loved it! It's very buggy friendly and they have good baby changing facilities and high chairs in the cafe area. Will defintely go back when he's a bit older.

Great place to visit - so much to learn/see and do. It took us 20 mins just to get in because the boys were so interested in the big stones outside! We would certainly visit again next time we're in Edinburgh.

This is an excellent museum, for all age children and adults. With many attractions to keep them all entertained. The big bang room was amazing, although a little scary for my youngest who wasn't quite 2 at the time. Would recomend to anyone as a great place to visit.

Our Dynamic Earth is an exciting museum in the heart of Edinburgh. We visited it for the first time during the Edinburgh festival when we wanted to get away from the buskers and crowds and my son who was then six enjoyed it so much that we went back a couple of days later for another visit. During a tour of the museum you are taken on a journey of the history of the earth from the Big Bang through to the future. Each room offers a glimpse into a different time and place but what makes it so exciting and engaging for kids is the different mediums used to recreate this. There is an amazing rainforest, a real iceberg, an imax film to show prehistoric scotland plus plenty of interactive exhibits and button to press to keep your kids engaged. An amazing building sitting at the bottom of Arthur's Seat with a lovely airy forecourt and cafe which is perfect antidote to the crowds of The Royal Mile.
