"Really interesting museum looking a the history of the army"
09-Oct-2011
Really interesting museum looking a the history of the army from the 1700s to present day. It is really sensitively and realistically done (ie no glorifying war or guns) and is suitable for all ages.
There is lots of hands on stuff to keep children interested - eg. dressing up as a soldier, handling objects, having a look around a soldier's house.
There is a fantastic "Kids' Zone" in the basement with soft play, climbing, rocking horses etc. You have to book a slot there on arrival as numbers are restricted (which is great, it's never too busy!).
The museum is free to get in and £2.50 for the kid's zone (free for under 1s).
The cafe is quite small but I see from the website that it has been refurbished so may have a bit more space now.
It's a lot smaller and more manageable than most other museums and DS (age 4)'s current fave museum!Read moreLessMumsnetter RickGhastley
