"We visited on a Saturday, non-event day, for the first"
09-Aug-2009
We visited on a Saturday, non-event day, for the first time and enjoyed a good 4 hours at Brogdale, which houses the national Apple (and other fruits too!) collection.
It's just off the A2 in Faversham.
First up we had a look around the shops in the newly renovated 'village' section - these include locally produced ciders and wines, local meat and fruits and veg, sewing shop and chocolaterie.
We then enjoyed a delicious cake in the tea shop, where we could have had full lunch - decorated really well, and it even had a children's play area.
Then we took a ride on England's longest miniature railway (just £1 each) and spotted teddies along the way into the orchards.
Finally, we went on a self-guided walk into the apple and other fruit orchards which took about an hour, and was very enjoyable.
All in all a lovely outdoors day out, and with no entry fee,it was just the cakes and things that costed, so pretty inexpensive!Read moreLessMumsnetter thetoothfairy1
