"What a wonderful place! If - like me - you…"

What a wonderful place! If - like me - you visited Beamish 30 years ago, it's changed/expanded/improved a lot since then. Do come on a nice day if you can, don't miss the sweet shop. There's masses and masses to see and do, so make sure you bring lots of energy with you. It doesn't feel crowded even in school holidays, because the site is so massive. But you may have to wait for the trams if it's busy.

A great family day out all round. There is loads to see and do, from going down a mine to riding on a steam train, seeing animals at the farm or bowling hoops at the school. Plenty to interest our toddler and also adults. Look out for the regular special events too. Entry is relatively expensive if you are only going once, but you pay for a full year so if you live nearby it is great value as it will be free after the first time - and there is definitely more to see than most families would manage in a day.

What a fantastic day out and we didn't manage to get around the whole place so will have to go back.
My two children (7 and 4) were really interested in everything they saw....the drift mine, trams and open top double decker bus rides, the old shops, the people, the school,...just everything...it was well worth the money
just a quick point- we didn't see many signs advertising it until we were really near it(so did worry that my navigational skills had let us down(again))
food in the old tea shop not cheap but a decent qualityRead moreLess1 person found this review helpful.
