"We recently visited with the two DC while staying with…"
We recently visited with the two DC while staying with the grandparents in North Devon. Despite a very wet day (typical holiday weather!) we had a great time - particularly as there was a plant fair in the marquee for my horticulturist father to enjoy!
We had a lovely walk around the extensive gardens with both kids (4 and 1) enjoying running around exploring nooks and crannies! The formal gardens are simply stunning - the new 'hot' garden a mass of orange, yellow and red - and the alpine planted walls very interesting.
The fruit and vegetable garden is enough to inspire even the most reluctant gardener and is complete with a Mr McGregor's plot too! We discovered The Brash which my DD loved exploring which features oversized bugs and outdoor musical instruments and also completed a garden trail which she enjoyed handing in for a badge on return to the entrance. The plant centre is stacked with goodies, the shop is dangerous (!) and the cafe serves excellent, healthy, locally sourced food and drinks (I thought the chicken sandwich I ate was one of the nicest I have ever had - I couldn't stop going on about it!). Well worth a visit and with kids under 16 going free throughout August, a good one for the hols. (RHS Members get in free)Read moreLess
