"What a little gem! Definitely an outing for a dry…"
What a little gem! Definitely an outing for a dry day as the trees provide little protection from the rain, as we found to our cost. We went during August, and our children were kept entertained by a daily hunt for giant plastic bugs in the 54 acres.

We took a picnic, but ate it in the middle of the Arboretum, which was so quiet it felt like our own private park. There are lots of nooks and crannies to explore, and some fantastic views of the Cotswolds and Malcolm House, early childhood home of the Mitford Sisters.

There is a fantastic visitor centre, which reminded us of a mountain ski lodge, serving great food and a huge selection of cakes.

Most people would struggle with a buggy here, so definitely one for families without buggies. Malcolm House is disappointingly not open to visitors wishing to satisfy their Mitford addiction, but gardeners will find plenty to entertain them in the garden centre and Arboretum.

Moreton-in-Marsh is just around the corner, and is a pretty little market town with a great cheese shop!Read moreLess
