"Wonderful child friendly day out…"
This is a beautiful place to visit at any time of the year, but especially in Autumn as the leaves change. There is so much room for children in the grounds, lots to explore, and the house is also very child friendly. One room has a large sofa with a big sign on it saying "Please sit on this sofa", in front of a lovely fire, with a great dressing-up box for children. Well done National Trust!Read moreLess

Stourhead is my favourite local National Trust site. We visit quite alot. The walk around the lakeside is quite lovely in all seasons.
It is a little bit challenging getting around the grotto, but there is an alternative route for buggies and wheelchair users.
There is a cafe in the car park with a farm shop and a National Trust shop. Down the hill towards the lake is the Spreadeagle we've had many a good meal there. A little ice cream kiosk is open in the summer seasons selling the yummiest of options. But on a lovely sunny day nothing beats a picnic.
We are members of the National Trust, but the ticket prices are reasonable. We've only been around the house once, we tend to spend our time outside.
The fete champetre [however you spell it] is a lovely evening of fireworks, reflected in the waters of the lake.Read moreLess
"This beautiful place is run by the National Trust. It…"
This beautiful place is run by the National Trust. It was well worth the money to get in. We didn't pay to go into the house as the children are too young! There was plenty of space for the children to run around without causing too many problems.
The walk around the lake was magical.
The weekend we went was Easter so it was very busy with an Easter Egg hunt as well. There were three generations of our family on this visit and nobody was bored. There was something for the young and the old.
Facilities brilliant. We took a picnic so I can't say anything about the food.
Take a picnic.Read moreLess
