"Great for toddlers…"
We had a great day at Easton; I was worried there wouldn't be much for kids, but there was plenty of open space for running, footballs to play with, a wooden tree swing, a nest box trail, giraffe sculptures and a turf maze. Also free for under fives. In fact there was more for DS than for me really, the garden is still a bit of a work in progress. Nice cafe though which we both enjoyed.
Tips: you can get a buggy round most of the garden but there are steps up to the yew tunnel area.
Woolsthorpe manor, isaac newton's birthplace is just round the corner and is surprisingly fantastic for toddlers (is a national trust place).Read moreLess

Sometimes you just want to take kids somewhere with a little old fashioned fun. I took my two nephews (4 and 2) along to Easton Walled Gardens recently and we had a fab time!
The gardens themselves are really stunning. They have been restored from an overgrown jungle of trees, weeds and years of neglect - after the war the pretty house that once stood here was sadly pulled down but then the gardens were left for 50 years to grow wild.
The boys loved the freedom to run around the lawns, through the trees and along the 'Yew Tunnel'. There's a bird hide, so you can watch the kingfishers swooping in if you're lucky (we didn't see any!) We found a den, did the trail to spot the nest boxes - they LOVED this - and finished up in the sweet little tearoom for a slice of cake!
A really lovely day out. They have great loos and a nice gift shop as well!Read moreLess
