"Great hands on aquarium (and a good place to go when it's rainy in the Lakes)…"
A great little local aquarium with sea creatures from the Irish Sea, from anemones upto small sharks.
The highlights for us were the rays, which you're allowed to stroke (and they seemed to like it as they kept coming back), supervised handling of the starfish, and watching the moray eels play peekaboo.
The talks were good, the staff friendly and helpful, and the exhibits were interesting. We didn't eat there but there's a cafe, gift shop (with tasty ice-cream) and adventure playground round the back. There are remote controlled boats, water cannon games and crazy golf too at an extra price.
The children in our group, aged 1-12, all enjoyed it and we'd have happily explored Maryport too if we'd had longer there.Read moreLess
