"A great family (half) day out. We actually thought this"
07-Jul-2010
A great family (half) day out. We actually thought this was really good value for money, especially compared to other aquariums and sea zoos that we have visited since. Like the idea that your ticket is valid for a year so you can come back again without having to pay again.
Our little girl was 14 months old when we went and she loved it, it's certainly very well thought out and from the range of ages there seems to appeal to all. We went with some friends and there 7 year old son and he seemed to get just as much out of it as our toddler, albeit on a different level.
We found the cafe and selection of food available a little disappointing but there is room to take your own picnic if you wanted to.
Staff were very knowledgable during the talks.
We would recommend to anyone and will be going back to get full use of our ticket.Read moreLessMumsnetter JacG

"We have had season tickets for the deep since it"
06-Oct-2009
We have had season tickets for the deep since it opened. It has had a bit of a revamp last year which has revived the bits that were tired.
It has a lovely coral reef section and a great large tank with sharks and a saw fish. The aquariums are lovely.
The cafe is ok and reasonably priced.
Entry is expensive but you can use your tesco vouchers.Read moreLessMumsnetter charis

"We really enjoyed The Deep although have to be honest"
09-Aug-2009
We really enjoyed The Deep although have to be honest and say it is more of a couple hours rather than a full day out.
The best bit of our trip was taking the stairs at the end rather than the lift. There are huge viewing areas of the same tank and there was no-one else there. We really got to linger over the beautiful fish in peace whilst the lift seems to go up really quickly.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

"By far and away the best thing in the Hull"
20-Jul-2009
By far and away the best thing in the Hull area; not particularly cheap (but the season ticket is great value) but a really properly good visit with stuff to appeal to all the family from toddlers to computer-crazed tweens/teens.
The exhibition takes you down a time-line of marine life, and includes lots of hand-on and interactive features. There are numerous different areas for all the marine habitats represented - my toddler loves the tropical one, with hundreds of beautiful fish seen through a clear-sided tank. The big, deep 'submarium' bit has all the sharks. The end of the exhibit is a ride through the biggest tank in the clear acrylic walled lift which is always the highlight for me.
Decent enough restaurant/cafe, notably breast-feeding friendly and with baby-food heating microwave/spoons/napkins. Toilets a bit over-crowded and it does get very busy at the end of term during the week.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.
