"I like the feel of this aquarium because it is"
05-Oct-2011
I like the feel of this aquarium because it is the original Victorian aquarium with the old tanks and everything. It has a great range of species and the glass bottom boat went down very well with the kids. My only complaint is that when we went it was very hot inside and I actually felt faint at times.

"Fantastic day out for all ages. Worth taking the glass"
04-Oct-2011
Fantastic day out for all ages. Worth taking the glass bottom boat over the top of the turtles. The guide puts food in which brings the fish to the boat and answers all the questions the children have.

"We went here on a rainy day out in Brighton,"
02-Dec-2010
We went here on a rainy day out in Brighton, it's good and there's quite a lot to see but not as good as the London one.
We found the cafe to be very expensive.Read moreLessMumsnetter kslatts

"The centre is largely housed within a Victorian arcade building"
07-Jul-2010
The centre is largely housed within a Victorian arcade building that imposes a very specific look and feel on the bulk of the aquarium, but the labelling and exhibits are bang up to date and some of the displays very imaginative. The Amazonia display, for example, uses mirrors and lighting effects to turn a fairly small room into something approaching a rainforest experience, and highly impressed my children. The underwater tunnel is very effective and although we didn't try out the glass-bottomed boat (I couldn't see 2yo DD sitting still for long enough) it's something we've made a mental note to come back and do later.

"We loved this aquarium! The Victorian building was fun to"
29-Jan-2010
We loved this aquarium! The Victorian building was fun to negotiate and the underwater tunnel in the shark and turtle tank was brilliant. We especially loved the two giant sea turtles that hovered just overhead before going to play in the air bubble stream nearby. Great way to spend an hour and a half before heading over to the beach.

"Really good fun for kids, and adults. No separate car park"
30-Dec-2009
Really good fun for kids, and adults. No separate car park though and Brighton is pretty bad for finding a place to park. ideal for if u live fairly local like we do,or if u have used the train.
Lots of steps so not exactly buggy friendly!Read moreLessMumsnetter natapillar

"This is a fantastic place to take children when it's"
12-Aug-2009
This is a fantastic place to take children when it's pouring with rain in Brighton - esp as options in the city centre can be limited in bad weather. Great Victorian building, lots to see and all warm and indoors! Although facilties for food aren't brilliant they are conveniently sited in the middle, and there are also plenty of restaurants/cafes nearby. Get tickets in advance online, it's cheaper, and keep and eye out for discount vouchers for sealife in restaurants etc.

"Try and go to the underwater tunnel whilst they are"
06-Aug-2009
Try and go to the underwater tunnel whilst they are feeding the fish upstairs in the auditorium. We did this, the fish above you are going crazy and its dead quiet.. After the feeding its crammed under there ( as its the way out of the auditorium.
Not very Buggy friendly due to lots of steps. Make sure you have strong arms!
There is a buggy park near the entrance but as DD was only 1, it was too much to expect her to walk that far.
Lots of fish too see and lots of interactive things for older kids and a kinda quiz thing to do on the way round.Read moreLessMumsnetter pigleychez
