"Light and fluffy - good read…"
This is a lovely book, which grows on you.

I didn't like it the first time I read it, and truthfully the rhyming couplets still drive me a bit potty (Because the first thing you'll learn'll; be a barn owl is nocturnal) - but on the third or fourth reading (as requested by my harshest critics, 5 & 2, who need something special to tempt them away from Julia Donaldson) I started to like it.

The illustrations are good, and there is lots to point out on the page and discuss with slightly older readers. And the ending is lovely, telling them how to have a good sleep, with just ONE teddy (and a flock of sheep).

Definitely worth a read.Read moreLess
"Favourite bedtime read…"
This has proved to be a favourite for 2 year old twin boys. The rhyming enhances the story for both children and adult. Very popular read and always requested.Read moreLess
"Funny, rhythmic story, making the bedtime routine fun for toddlers…"
A fun rhyming story, explaining the bedtime routine in a silly way to toddlers. Entertaining pictures with lots to point out keeping toddlers engaged in the story, and the words read in a sing song way. There's lots of pace and silliness, through the language as the child goes through the bedtime routine from dinner onwards, hampered by animals who make a mess and cause a commotion. It's perfect for reading out loud. Only negative is actually the title. I thought it would be a dinosaur themed story (for my dinosaur-obsessed 2yr old), so that was a little disappointing, but overall a fun memorable read.Read moreLess

"A funny and creative story!…"
I really enjoyed reading this book with my son!

I tripped over the words at first but after a few reads, the rhymes now flow right out of my mouth! I think the pictures are really colourful and creative. It's a fun read and managed to elicit a few giggles out of my son. I think the repetition on each new rhyme (Please don't share your toothbrush with a shark/Really, please don't share your toothbrush with a shark) reinforces the comic message and adds an engaging element for the child to repeat the second line whilst having the story read to them.

I have found my son sitting quietly by himself looking through the pictures of the book so I know he likes it. I would recommend it as a fun bedtime - or any other time - read!Read moreLess
"Fun to share and rich in language…"
We have enjoyed this book for 1 to 1 as well as circle time reading. It has lovely rhyming words like ferocious & atrocious and clumpy & grumpy. It makes for good dramatic reading and has lots of repetitions of emphasised 'PLEASE!' In a busy nursery it is unlikely to send anyone off to sleep though. Thanks to DontWorryBaby's review, the next time I read it we will hunt for the teddy.Read moreLess
"Colourful, imaginative and fun to read.…"
Having a 2 year old and 4 year old who love 'The Disgusting Sandwich', we were very excited to discover 'Never ask a Dinosaur to Dinner' and it didn't disappoint. Beautiful illustrations, really colourful. An excellent storyline which prompts imagination and hypothetical conversations and all presented in rhyming text which is fun to read. We also like hunting for the teddy bear on each page. A great read for young children.Read moreLess

"A wonderful journey at bedtime…"
My son and I love reading this book together because it has beautiful illustrations of some wonderful animals. I like it for its clever use of alliteration, 'a beaver in the basin' or a 'bison for a blanket' always make me smile. And ultimately, any book that brings the story back to feeling safe and secure at bedtime is a hit with me! Throw in a dinosaur and a shark and everyone's happy. A massive thank you for sending us this lovely book to enjoy. It's been most appreciated. :-)))Read moreLess
"A funny rhyming tale of animals coming to visit…"
i have a dinosaur obsessed 4 year old who was hooked on this book from the front cover. There is a lot of repetative rhyming text throughout the story, great for younger children. We are introduced to a number of animals and it was my son's first introduction to a beaver and their dam's. So great for education and discussion as well as being a funny story. We love it.Read moreLess
